Position Highlights The United Nations Special Rapporteur Program at the James E. Rogers College of Law is hiring a Research Professional I. The United Nations Special Rapporteur program is responsible for reporting on the human rights situations of indigenous peoples around the world, addressing specific cases of alleged violations of indigenous peoples’ rights, and promote good practices, including new laws, government programs, and constructive agreements between indigenous peoples and states, to implement international standards concerning the rights of indigenous peoples. The successful candidate will join the research team of Lecturer in Law and United Nations Special Rapporteur on the rights of indigenous peoples, Jose Francisco Cali’ Tzay to work on a major study on the rights of indigenous peoples under the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples with a particular focus on Latin America.This is an Extended Temporary Employment (ETE) position. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct literature reviews, legal analysis of cases and United Nations

and regional human rights systems reports and communications. * Prepare articles, reports and presentations.

  • Attend project meetings.
  • Summarize project results.
  • Summarize interviews.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively with different groups/individuals.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated strong, positive interpersonal skills.
  • Skill in public speaking and presenting information to large groups.
  • This role is not eligible for flexible work arrangements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
  • One year of relevant work experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • JD Preferred.
