UN Women West and Central Africa office seeks to recruit an intern to assist the Partnerships and Resource mobilization (PRM) regional and country units in developing a data-driven approach to donor and partner engagement and fundraising. This will be done by supporting the PRM in organizing, monitoring and analyzing the data on UN Women’s historical and current partnerships building and resource mobilization performance and trends, and in conducting data-driven analysis on the latter. This position reports to the PRM Specialist in West and Central Africa Regional Office (WCARO).
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Business intelligence and data-driven analysis on UN Women’s funding performances and resource mobilization efforts in the overall region (regional and country offices)
- Develop, set up and coordinate the implementation of business intelligence tools that enable the organization, tracking and analysis of the information.
- Provide regular data-based analysis reports to regional and country offices’ senior management and PRM staff to support pipeline building, planning and overall coordination of fundraising efforts.
- Provide ah-hoc data and reports to PRM staff to support donor outreach initiatives (donor meeting preparation, donor intelligence)
- Liaise between the helpdesk in HQ and system users in the region.
Capacity building:
- Support WCARO in developing training sessions for the regional and country offices’ staff on performance tracking, data-driven resource mobilization and on the use of the tools.
- Ensure data quality across the regional and country offices through follow-up and monitoring actions.
- Contribution to the PRM regional community of practice
- Support WCARO in developing regular sharing sessions to reinforce regional and country ownership of the data, present strategic analysis, showcase identified PRM best practices and discuss challenges.
Required Skills and Experience:
Education and certification:
- Advanced university degree in Statistics, Business Administration, Public Administration, Public policy, International Relations, Economics, or other related fields.
- A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- Strong knowledge in data analysis, business/ data intelligence is required.
- Strong knowledge in gender equality and women’s empowerment is considered an asset.
- Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) in international development, gender and development, development economics or any other relevant development disciplines;
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent) in international development, gender and development, development economics or any other relevant development disciplines;
- Have graduated with a university degree in international development, gender and development, development economics or any other relevant development disciplines, and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation;
- Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program which is part of a degree programme and undertake the internship as part of the program requirements.
Experience:
- Experience using data analysis visualization tools such as Power BI is required.
Remuneration:
- Interns who are not in receipt of financial support from other sources such as universities or other institutions will receive a stipend from UN Women to partially subsidize their basic living costs for the duration of the internship.
Language Requirements:
- Fluency in English and French is required.
