Introduction
UNDP Viet Nam is looking for 01 qualified consultancy firm/institute/organization for the Incubating and Accelerating Innovative Solutions under the Plastics Innovation Programme in Viet Nam.
Viet Nam is facing pressing issues of plastic pollution, with a staggering amount of 2.9 million tons of plastic waste generated each year. However, only a small portion of plastic recyclables were sorted for recycling, or even lost during the recycling process, ending up in the environment. This harms the environment and human health, especially related to air and soil contamination. Despite of a large amount of plastic waste generation, Viet Nam has still lost 75% (equivalent to US$2.9 billion) of the material value of plastic each year, showing the failure in plastic waste collection, sorting, and recycling. These situations raise the necessity of holistic solutions addressing the whole life cycle of plastic or mobilizing resources from various sectors along the plastic value chain, potentially involving interventions and initiatives for reducing, redesigning, removing, reusing, recycling, and recovering (6Rs).
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Vietnam officially launched Plastics Innovation Programme on 26 February 2026, which calls for proposals to award small grants of up to USD 30,000 to organizations, to implement innovative solutions to plastic pollution. Through this call for proposals, UNDP is inviting applications that offer novel solutions to plastic pollution across a wide range of areas.
