Job Description:The Risk Engineering Climate Specialist will contribute to RES Climate+ solutions targeting Climate Tech Underwriting and Climate Criteria Execution. Specific responsibilities will include: climate tech and decarbonization resource development for internal and external stakeholders; industry, academia and NGO alignment, including managing consulting relationships and vendor portfolios; liaise with Marketing and Communications to advance the RES Climate leadership brand; monitoring and identifying decarbonization frameworks and climate tech advancements for commercial sectors representative of Chubb’s property casualty insurance portfolio; deliver RES evaluations for climate criteria and climate tech opportunities.This role will report into the Chubb Risk Engineering Services Center of Excellence (CRES CoE). Location for this role is flexible. Travel throughout North America to attend internal meetings and internal/external conferences, events, etc is anticipated.Responsibilities:
- Enable growth in Climate Tech by tracking, aggregating and analyzing technology- and sector-specific developments that will inform UW and Risk Engineering leaders
- Create internal platforms that enable these analyses to be targeted toward new Climate Tech business opportunities
- Develop client facing risk management resources reflecting developments in emerging and established Climate Tech sectors
- Transition intellectual capital from Risk Engineering Climate Tech and Climate Criteria reviews into learning content for risk engineering, underwriting, claims
- Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to promote RES Climate thought leadership
- Complete Climate Tech and Climate Criteria risk engineering reviews for underwriting
- Identify NGO’s, Industry Associations, Academia with climate initiatives aligned with Chubb Climate+ goals and objectives
- Establish frameworks for engagement with key NGO’s, Industry Associations, Academia with an established climate leadership presence in key high emitting sectors, considering guidance, frameworks, data
- Identify academic and industry organizations addressing emerging climate tech, to enable strategic scoping of commercial property casualty new business opportunities. Lead liaison relationships with these organizations
- Maintain existing climate hubs directed toward the Agricultural and Cement sectors. Provide project leadership for future climate hubs
- Vet opportunities to align external decarbonization resources with Chubb’s Climate initiatives, such a funding sources directed toward target sectors
Qualifications:
- Must be passionate about climate change mitigation and ready to embrace Chubb’s goal of Climate leadership from a variety of perspectives
- Strategic thinker with proven ability to craft goals, objectives, processes and endpoints, complemented with metrics to quantify outcomes and impact
- Education through the master’s degree level preferred with an emphasis on sustainability
- Minimum of 5+ years resilience, sustainability or climate science experience
- Expertise with resiliency in the commercial agriculture sector to support current client service offerings
- Experience with climate data sets, including developing data sets that align with target climate goals and objectives
- Track record of effective engagements with NGO’s, Academia and the private sector from a climate / sustainability perspective
- Expertise with aligning private sector efforts with government-sponsored sustainability initiatives
- Experience with developing and employing metrics to measure progress toward goals and objectives
- Success in creating and executing digital strategies, to enable expanded scale and scope of strategic impact
- Ability to influence new, dynamic initiatives, engaging with a variety of stakeholders, within a global multinational organization
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong project management skills
- Awareness of commercial property casualty insurance sector preferred
- Able to operate in an independent and remote setting
- Strong collaboration skills
- A proven ability to create, plan, organize, implement, execute, and manage successful programs and initiatives, including the ability to collaborate with senior management
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions, concentrating on high priority issues as needed and in a timely manner
