Who you are: As Sales Manager for First Year Abroad and Gap programs, you will champion the life-changing experience of studying abroad to students who are graduating or who have recently graduated from U.S. high schools. You will generate excitement for First Year Abroad and Gap programs through virtual and in-person presentations to educators, school administrators, students, and parents. While you generate leads, you will also manage an Enrollment Coordinator team that provides direct customer service to students and parents throughout the pre-departure process. You will drive your team to creatively advertise CIEE’s First Year Abroad and Gap programs, convert leads to travelers, and meet clearly defined sales goals. You’ll have an entrepreneurial mindset and enjoy the challenges of growing a new, high-potential business.What you’ll do:

  • Achieve aggressive sales targets for CIEE’s post-high school graduation portfolio including First Year Abroad and Gap.
  • Manage an Enrollment Coordinator team to oversee the entire sales process from lead to travel student for First Year Abroad and Gap programs.
  • Maximize conversions through close communication and teamwork.
  • Clarify and document sales efforts on a regular interval (i.e. bi-weekly), report, analyze, and pivot in a creative manner to constantly improve results in this new business.
  • Champion an entrepreneurial spirit, enabling the team to try creative strategies, fail fast, and move on quickly.
  • Facilitate pre-departure travel advising and ensure accurate information is shared with students and parents about how their First Year Abroad or Gap experience fits into students’ post-secondary academic journeys.
  • Coordinate with CIEE’s Global Education Advisors to foster ongoing relationships with principals, teachers, counselors, and district administrators to keep CIEE at the forefront of post-high school study abroad opportunities.
  • Prospect and cold call to gain competitive insights about students and parents educational needs.
  • Present CIEE virtually and in-person to mixed audiences that could include teachers, school and district-level administrators, prospective students, and parents.
  • Travel occasionally during the September to June selling season.
  • Build relationships with prospective partner organizations to provide financial support to students studying abroad.
  • Generate excitement within school communities through regular contact as students prepare to travel.
  • Maintain accurate records of school communication, activities, and school relationship statuses in our CRM system Salesforce.
  • Provide direct customer service to students and parents during critical times in the enrollment and pre-departure process.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent).
  • Minimum of 4 years of sales experience, or study abroad industry experience.
  • Knowledge of the travel and/or work abroad industry is a bonus.
  • Experience working in or with K-12 public or private schools is a plus.
  • An enthusiastic commitment to education and personal belief in the power of bilingualism, cultural competency, global citizenship, and how studying abroad is an integral part of achieving these objectives.
  • Proven creative and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to use a CRM system to organize and prioritize your sales pipeline. Prior experience in Salesforce is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a proven ability to dynamically present to large groups.
  • Willingness to be a flexible team player, ready to jump in and do whatever it takes to get students prepared to travel.
  • Eagerness to travel extensively within your territory during the September – January selling Season.
  • Managerial experience is a plus.
