JOB SUMMARY:School Health Assistant under the direction of the Supervisor, Government Affairs and School Health and the district nurse provides triage, assessment and treatment of elementary school children in the health office of assigned elementary schools in the National City School District. The School Health Assistant works collaboratively with the district nurse, school staff, families and students to provide health services to promote wellness and decrease health barriers that negatively impact participation in school attendance and activities. The School Health Assistant may be required to also work collaboratively with the district-s preschool nurses and staff to provide health services for preschool students. This position is full time during the school year with summers off.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:High School Diploma, GED or foreign equivalentTwo years of experienceGraduate of MA or CNA programCurrent BLS for Healthcare Providers, issued by AHAPediatric experienceEffective communication and organizational skillsProficient computer skillsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Four years of experienceCMA or CNABilingualExperience in elementary school environmentThe current salary range for this position is $21.00 to $28.88Rady Children’s Hospital is committed to compensation that is externally competitive and internally equitable.
