You will be responsible for contributing to the overall success of the branch by ensuring a high level of customer service through efficient operations and administrative efficiencies.Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Leads and promotes a client-focused culture within his/her team to deepen client relationships and leverage the Bank’s broader relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Manages all branch support staff and operations, by:
  • Provide ongoing coaching and development of employees, performance management and annual goal setting, guidance, motivation and support.
  • Resolve issues with employees and advisors or other team members.
  • Plan and facilitate support staff meetings.
  • Building a culture of high performance and continuous improvement
  • Coordinate the set-up and onboarding of new support staff and advisors.
  • Managing branches facilities and security access to branches
  • Liaising with Head Office and Regional Office regarding new initiatives.
  • Manages and implements procedures to ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulatory bodies, by:
  • Ensuring that branches comply with privacy and anti-money laundering requirements
  • Maintain all branch compliance files
  • Assist in handling customer complaints and ensure that any potential violations of industry regulations are escalated to the Branch Manager, National supervision and Compliance.
  • Approve trade corrections
  • Acting as the branch’s point of contact for internal audit
  • Delegate for the Branch Manager supervision duties
  • Monitor continuing education requirements for all licensed staff
  • Partner with the Branch Manager to maintain a rigorous culture of compliance reflecting regulatory requirements and organizational standards to put the customer’s best interests first.
  • Assists the Branch Manager in managing branch expenses by:
  • Query the Financial Information System (FIS) on various expenses
  • Assisting in preparing branch budget and approving and management of all branch expenses.
  • Supports Advisor teams by providing advice and support on HR related issues and sales leadership to advisors.
  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a human resource management strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicate the vision, values and business strategy; and managing succession planning and team development.
  • Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be factored into day-to-day operations and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which his/her team conducts effective and efficient operations in his/her respective industries in accordance with Scotiabank’s values, code of conduct and global sales principles, while ensuring the relevance, compliance and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls in order to meet operational obligations, compliance, anti-money laundering, anti-money laundering, sanctions, and conduct risks.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • 5+ years of experience in the investment industry (wealth management/financial services)
  • Investment Representative License (CSC, CPH)
  • Branch Manager License (or Undertaking to take It)
  • Process-oriented person and effective communicator
  • Previous management experience is considered an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
  • You are bilingual in French and English. Pursuant to a language needs assessment conducted by Scotiabank, the successful candidate will be required to be able to communicate in English in addition to French because they will serve and English-speaking clientele.
