What will you be doing!
- Managing and supporting a team of Project Control Coordinators involved in developing and managing the ANMRC schedule, recognizing the time frame required and the budget and resources available;
- Advancing project planning competency and guiding others through the multiple stages of a project;
- Reviewing commercial contracts and providing comments in relation to project schedule and cost implications;
- Providing the project controls knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques required to meet Program Management Office (PMO)/CNL needs and expectations;
- Providing guidance required to manage project integration, scope, time, cost, quality, resource, communications, and risk management;
- Analyzing the cost and schedule performance of ANMRC, determining variances, monitoring trends, capturing lessons learned, and recommending corrective actions;
- Providing project planning support to project teams;
- Providing subject matter expertise on the topics of WBS, cost management, schedule management, and risk management;
- Leading the implementation of core planning and control processes (WBS, cost estimating, cost control, scheduling, earned value management and reporting, etc.) systems and templates, training staff in their usage and monitoring implementation;
- Overseeing the development of schedule, resource, and cost plans utilizing project management techniques, to provide the basis for integrated cost and schedule control;
- Overseeing monitoring of the progress of delivery of all assigned program work and providing information to all levels of management, that will allow them to control the work under their responsibility, to best meet the needs of the program;
- Directing and supporting the production of reports and presentations for the project/program;
- Facilitating the development of “what if” scenarios, remedial action plans, including the analysis and integrated output for management to use in the control of their projects;
- Providing support and direction to adhoc reporting on any aspect of the work, resource, and cost plans;
- Coordinating the project/program monthly reporting;
- Coordinating reporting with other projects/programs;
- Understanding and participating in internal and external audits, and following up on recommendations;
- Organizing, prioritizing, and supervising work for the project/program, providing guidance and direction in line with program/PMO/CNL goals;
- Providing an interface between Project parties (e.g., Lead Suppliers, Work Management, Radiation Protection, Finance, etc.) during all phases of a project;
- Ensuring that the quality of project controls team output is maintained consistent with the PMO requirements and industry standards;
- Providing recommendations and coaching with respect to procedural compliance, accuracy, and completeness; and
- Providing “triage” assistance to projects in trouble, helping to troubleshoot the problems and develop solutions
- Identifying and recommending improvements to any CNL-wide procedures that affect own work area;
- Participating in employee performance reviews and developing training plans to develop and maintain the skill level of employees;
- Collaborating with others in the development of changes to work procedures utilizing innovative approaches;
- Recommending policy improvements; and
- Encouraging/supporting innovation among others.
- Responding to situations to contain/mitigate short-term risk in accordance with established processes, procedures, and guidelines;
- Errors in judgment posing some risk to the project/program/team increase; some checks and balances on work;
- Being aware of emergency response processes and adhering to health and safety standards; and
- Ensuring that employees across the team are fully aware of emergency response processes and ensuring that safety standards are followed.
What we are looking for:
- University degree or college diploma from an accredited school in a field relevant to Project Management, Engineering, Economics or Business Administration.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred * 5 – 10 years of increasing responsibility and relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and project delivery experience; and
- 2 – 5 years of leadership and / or supervisory experience, or the ability to motivate others to perform to expectations would be an asset.
- Organizational and planning skills, ability to establish priorities, define action plans, set and meet deadlines and monitor performance;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Excellent presentation / instructional / coaching skills;
- Effective team leadership and team-building skills;
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team with strong interpersonal and networking skills essential to build relationships and work effectively with staff at various levels of the organization
- Questioning attitude with the ability to challenge assumptions and plans proposed by others in an objective and professional manner. Uses reliable sources to verify conditions, assess risks, etc.;
- Effective and innovative problem solver with results-oriented approach and ability to motivate and expedite others;
- Flexible and multi-task oriented;
- Motivates others to perform to expectations;
- Highly self-motivated with a positive attitude, and is willing to learn new skills, share experiences and take on roles of increasing responsibility;
- Prepare and manage project schedules;
- Conduct effective meetings to discuss and resolve scheduling issues; and
- Resolve personnel issues and foster a cooperative working environment.
- Knowledge of project management principles, processes and tools used to manage projects as recognized by the Project Management Institute (PMI);
- Knowledge of project controls areas including cost control (advanced), scheduling, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
- preparation and implementation (advanced), cost estimating (basic) and change management (advanced);
- Knowledge of procurement and financial processes;
- Knowledge of contract management
- Knowledge of project management techniques (i.e., Critical Path method, Earned Value Technique) and a sound knowledge of the Primavera P6 software is required.
Security clearance eligibility required: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom.

Location:
CNL works with employees across our Canadian locations to enable a hybrid workforce where possible. Our Hybrid employees work with their manager to establish expectations for when they will be on site vs when they are working from home.
