The Seed Portal for Online Data (SeedPOD) is an exciting new project led by the Millennium Seed Bank (MSB) Partnership team, based at the MSB, Wakehurst. SeedPOD will be the first open access database of global wild-origin seed collections, including a point of request for access to seed material from all collaborating seed banks. (PDF, 109.97kb)More detailsThe successful applicant will have advanced data management and manipulation skills and experience in analysing large, complex biological datasets. They will have a minimum of intermediate to advanced skills in Excel and a good level of skill in using some of the following applications: MS Access, SQL, BRAHMS and R.The post holder should have good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate technical information, both written and verbal. The successful applicant will be equally comfortable working as part of a team and working independently with minimal supervision.A basic framework of botanical knowledge is required including an understanding of plant taxonomic structures.This role is based at Wakehurst with the option of regular home working, subject to operational requirements.The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (RBG Kew) is a leading plant science institute, UNESCO World Heritage Site, and major visitor attraction.
