Full Time – 35 hours per week plus 7.5 hours Compulsory Contractual Overtime per week

The Opportunity:
Maintenance Services currently employ a mix of 85+ trades, semi-skilled and trade apprentice staff within its department who are responsible for the service and repair of over 500 buildings within the University of Edinburgh estate.
We now require 2 x Semi-Skilled Operatives to join our Maintenance Compliance Team who predominantly carry out Statutory Planned Preventative Maintenance checks. You will be joining a team that provides exceptional customer services to an expanding world class estate.
You will have significant experience of maintenance work within complex building services and estates. Strong communication skills and a willingness to proactively engage with Estates colleagues and customers.
A driving licence is essential as there will be a requirement to drive University vehicles.
Your skills and attributes for success:
- Knowledge of various routine trade specific duties.
- Experience of working within a maintenance department.
- Driving Licence.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to proactively engage with Estates colleagues and customers.
- A desire to drive a high-quality service to customers across the estate.
- Practical knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.
- A willingness to accept and drive change, and support colleagues as required.
- Basic computer literacy.

About the Team:

The University of Edinburgh has a significant programme of estates investment underway, in both capital development and also in the infrastructure and resilience of the estate. This investment will help to ensure that the university remains at the forefront of world leading teaching, learning and research.
The Estates Department is part of the Corporate Services Group and provides a range of key activities that help the University to achieve its corporate objectives. It is an integrated centre of excellence responsible for implementing decisions related to the buildings, fabric and infrastructure of the University. It provides specialist advice to the University on strategic estates issues as well as its statutory obligations.
