Job Title: SEN Early Years Teaching Assistant
Location: Haringey
Position: Full-time, Term-time OnlyAbout the RoleA vibrant and inclusive nursery in Haringey is looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Early Years Teaching Assistant to support children aged 3-5 with special educational needs (SEN). This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Early Years professional to join a welcoming team, committed to fostering a positive and nurturing environment for young children with additional learning needs.Key Responsibilities
- Tailored Learning: Plan and deliver engaging activities that are specifically designed to meet the needs of children with SEN, helping them thrive in their development and learning.
- Individual Support: Provide one-on-one or small group support, helping children develop key skills such as communication, independence, and confidence.
- Progress Monitoring: Track and record children’s progress, contributing to SEN reports and assessments within the nursery.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the SENCo, nursery staff, and external professionals to create and implement personalized learning and support plans.
- Family Support: Build strong relationships with families, offering guidance to ensure consistency in the child’s learning journey both at home and in the nursery.
- Inclusive Environment: Foster a supportive and caring atmosphere where every child feels valued, included, and empowered to reach their potential.
- Professional Development: Share best practices with colleagues and participate in ongoing training and development to enhance your SEN expertise.
Qualifications & Skills
- Essential:
- Level 3 Early Years qualification (or higher).
- Experience working with children with SEN, including those with autism, speech and language delays, and sensory processing challenges.
- A genuine passion for supporting young children’s development and helping them reach their full potential.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
- Creative and adaptable, with the ability to modify learning activities based on individual children’s needs.
- Enhanced DBS check and the legal right to work in the UK.
