Job description

Teaching Personnel is seeking compassionate and dedicated SEN 1:1 Support Assistants to work with children who have Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) on an ongoing basis. These roles involve providing tailored support to students with additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, and behavioural or emotional challenges, helping them to achieve their educational goals and flourish in a supportive environment.Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualised 1:1 support to students, aligning your approach with the specific goals and strategies outlined in their EHCPs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to deliver effective support plans.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that encourages progress and confidence in students.
  • Use behaviour management strategies and trauma-informed practices to support students in managing their emotions and behaviours.
  • Monitor and document the student’s progress, communicating updates to the relevant team members and adapting strategies as needed.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with additional needs, particularly those with EHCPs.
  • A good understanding of Autism, ADHD, trauma-related behaviours, and other special educational needs, with the ability to apply appropriate support techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Patience, resilience, and a passion for making a difference in the lives of young people.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to maintaining a safe and positive environment for students.
  • Relevant qualifications (such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Childcare, or Health & Social Care) are desirable but not required.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
