SEN Teaching AssistantLocation: Southampton
Salary: £12.83 per hour
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full Time / Permanent (Part-time can also be arranged for the right candidate)Are you passionate about supporting students with special educational needs?GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a secondary school in Southampton. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with students who require additional support to thrive academically and socially.As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will play a key role in helping students access the curriculum, building their confidence, and fostering an inclusive learning environment. You will work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to ensure that every student receives the guidance they need to reach their full potential.Responsibilities of a SEN TA:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEN.
- Assist in adapting learning materials to meet individual student needs.
- Help manage classroom behaviour and engagement.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive atmosphere within the classroom.
- Work closely with teachers and SEN coordinators to implement personalised learning plans.
- Support students with social and emotional development, encouraging positive interactions.
- Assist with physical and sensory needs where necessary.
- Monitor and report student progress to the SEN team and parents/carers.
SEN TA Qualification & Skills:
- A degree in Psychology, Education or in a similar field.
- Experience working with students with SEN, learning difficulties, or additional needs as a SEN Teaching Assistant.
- CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance (preferred but not mandatory).
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to student support.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Enhanced DBS check on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
