Job Title: SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator)

Start Date: January 2025 or soonerA highly reputable secondary school in Peterborough, rated “GOOD” by Ofsted, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to join their permanent staff. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead and shape the provision for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), ensuring every child reaches their full potential in an inclusive and supportive environment.Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the strategic development of the school’s SEND policy and provision.
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of SEND services, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
- Manage the identification and assessment of pupils with SEND, coordinating EHCPs and specialist support.
- Work closely with staff, parents, and external agencies to provide effective and individualised support plans for students.
- Deliver high-quality training to staff on SEND best practices.
- Promote a culture of inclusion and create opportunities for all students to succeed academically and socially.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
- National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) is highly desirable. Candidates who are working towards the qualification will also be considered.
- Proven UK experience working with students with a range of SEND needs is essential, ideally in a secondary school setting.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and external professionals.
- In-depth knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation.
- A commitment to the school’s vision of creating an inclusive learning environment for all students.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
