The Senior Accountant, reporting to the Controller, is a member of the accounting team, they ensure transactional day-to-day accounting transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.What we Offer:

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain general ledger for multiple entities by inputting daily financial transactions.
• Responsibility for full cycle accounting including month end close procedures.
• Responsible to post daily deposits and reconciliation to sales closings.
• Resolving financial problems, investigate issues and resolve accounting transactions in accordance with company policies.
• Variance analysis of financial results against budgets.
• Ensure compliance with Federal and Provincial regulatory reporting requirements and tax filings including GST, PST
• Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual balance sheet account reconciliations, including but not limited to bank reconciliations and intercompany.
• Preparation of month end financial package with supporting documentation.
• Assist with the preparation of quarterly financial information including consolidations.
• Produce year end working paper files and assist with preparation for independent accountant review.
• Assist in maintaining policy and procedure documentation for accounting transactions.
• Develop and maintain project specific reporting and analysis for internal clients.
• Maintain an accurate trail and support for all financial and accounting transactions.
• Understand and maintain adequate and effective internal controls under the direction of the controller.
• Examine, reconcile and adjust job costing to ensure accurate job costs.
• Other duties within the finance department as assigned.

Qualifications

• Completed bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related academic field of study comparable to Canadian academic standards preferred.
• Seven (7) or more years of reliable and sustained experience and knowledge in all aspects of Corporate Accounting, required.
• Experience in Residential Rentals, Construction, Land Development, and/or Job Costing is desired.
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office, specifically Excel, Word and Outlook required.
• Membership of the Certified General Accountants Association of Canada, or Canadian Securities Institute, desired.
• Knowledge of accounting system, budgets and internal controls required.
• Ability to use enterprise-level financial record-keeping software systems such as Sage Timberline, D365 Business Central, Yardi and Caseware, preferred.
• Criminal Records Check to the company’s satisfaction is required.
• Manual dexterity is required to work with computers and peripherals.
• Work is performed at the work site. Remote or Hybrid work not available.
• Accuracy is crucial in this position, the ideal candidate must possess strong and accurate data entry skills.
