The initial focus will be on learning all aspects of transactional activities related to our trade accounts payable, trade accounts receivable, loan payments receivables, and loan funding payables. In addition, this candidate will support the month-end close process and help with the preparation of financial statements.Please note this position is open to candidates in Vancouver and Toronto. The position will be 100% on-site in our client’s Port Moody, BC, or downtown Toronto office.Benefits and Perks:

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the month-end closing process
  • Preparing work papers for various general ledger accounts
  • Assisting with bank reconciliations (for internal controls)
  • Assisting and preparing journal entries for posting
  • Assisting with the preparation of financial statements for the one-parent entity
  • Assisting with year-end close and annual audit
  • Learning payroll processing to provide backup support as needed
  • Any various accounting-related tasks required to support the Controller
  • Processing daily loan funding PAP files and submit to the bank for approval
  • Processing unique daily loan fundings such as manual funding, split funding
  • Manage AP/AR payments email inbox
  • Operating in a supervisory capacity to oversee others and to ensure complete accuracy and approvals for internal controls

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of accounting experience
  • Enrolled or completed CPA
  • Self-motivated individuals who learn quickly and exhibit exceptional organizational skills
  • Pleasant and friendly, who enjoys working with others
  • High performers with a proven track record of exceptional work
  • Multi-taskers that can handle multiple ongoing projects and remain organized and timely
  • Consistently demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Prior experience with accounting
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
  • Great phone demeanor with a pleasant attitude
  • Ability to work full-time hours (with some work flexibility)
  • Quick learner who can adapt to various situations and can learn on the fly
  • Ability to work in a paperless environment
  • High level of computer skills and being able to quickly learn and navigate various applications
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and a credit check as this person will be handling sensitive client information and banking activities
