  • Take ownership of the day-to-day accounting and financial close process for Modern Niagara Group Inc. (Corporate office);
  • Generate monthly financial reports and quarterly reporting packages;
  • Prepare timely and accurate journal entries as required in completing the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close process;
  • Maintain, monitor and reconcile monthly general ledger reconciliations and documentation;
  • Perform bank and other account reconciliations;
  • Prepare and process intercompany invoices and settlement of intercompany balances;
  • Work with the Director of Finance to support other departments such as financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, and consolidations in achieving successful internal and external reporting through providing variance analysis and supporting their understanding of the accounting records;
  • Prepare Canadian sales tax returns;
  • Provide year-end audit support to auditor questions and requests; and
  • Help champion a strong partnership and act as a liaison between the finance team and its operational counterparts.

Qualifications and Job Requirements:

  • 3+ years experience performing full-cycle accounting;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent in relevant work experience. CPA designation or near competition is considered an asset;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles (ASPE);
  • Has experience with applications and ERP systems, including NetSuite, Excel, Word, and Datarails is an asset;
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines, particularly around month and quarter end close;
  • Posses excellent communication skills and is comfortable connecting with people at all levels of the organization; and
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize competing responsibilities while working in a very fast paced, dynamic, high volume team environment.
