We embrace technology as one resource to improve customer experience and business performance while creating competitive advantage.SUMMARY/OBJECTIVEWorking closely with the Ownership group and the Controller, the Senior Accountant will provide hands on accounting support for a variety of financial aspects and special projects.Supporting family and corporate initiatives, the Senior Accountant will support the Controller in reviewing personal/corporate bank accounts, analyzing financial processes, examine investments, administer trust and private shareholder accounts and contribute to personal forecasting and business planning aspects.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:· Support the Controller in identifying trends, issues and opportunities that impact the investments and ownership group’s financial interests and implement strategies for change· Provide regular financial statement reporting and return analysis (monthly, quarterly or annually as required), general accounting and oversite of:
- the airplane company’s revenue, expenses, payroll, regulatory filings and travel schedule for optimal utilization of the company assets
- the real estate holding company’s revenue, expenses, related party leases and property management activities
- the shareholders’ personal holding companies and family trusts
· Co-ordination of activities and transactions with external accounting, tax, legal, banking, investment and insurance advisors· Review and document of internal controls and work with outside accounting firms to conduct periodic risk assessments· Prepare yearend financial statements, working paper packages and draft tax returns for review by outside accounting firms for all Family Office entities· Utilizes QuickBooks, excel and analytical skills to prepare, update/maintain entries and working papers for various continuity schedules, accounts payable, accounts receivable, miscellaneous payroll, other journal entries as required.· Assist management with the family office/private equity investment opportunities including initial reviews, due diligence, monitoring of quarterly financial reporting of investments· Participate in strategic planning· Various ad-hoc requests and special projects from senior management and other responsibilities· Backup responsibilities for sales invoice billings· Complete the bank deposits as needed.· Research and respond to queries regarding the reconciliation and entry of payments· Perform bank reconciliations· Maintain all supporting documentation in an organized fashion and respond to requests for information and statistics as needed, e.g internal and external auditors· Perform routine clerical duties and various administrative functions· Special projects and support with various accounting and ad-hoc related duties asREQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:· Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce· Professional Accounting Certification (CPA, CA or CMA) or working towards designation· Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a finance/operational accounting roleSKILLS AND ABILITIES:· Advanced knowledge of Excel and Word (including: VLOOKUP; Pivot Table; IF Functions)· Excellent verbal and written communication skills· Strong analytical skills and attention to detail· Interpersonal and client service skills· Ability to multi-task and work in a challenging fast paced environment· Strong work ethic with a positive, can-do attitudePOSITION TYPEThis is a full-time position.
