We currently have an outstanding opportunity in our Richmond location for a Senior Accountant to join ECS Holdings! The Senior Accountant provides and coordinates company financial reporting and ensures accounting procedures conform to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The Senior Accountant is also responsible for ALL holding companies. Direction and supervision received from the Director of Finance.

Duties and Responsibilities – Includes both major and other.

  • Bank reconciliation, including managing Cash inflow and Cash outflow.
  • Review monthly GL reconciliation including all major balance sheet accounts (A/R, A/P, fixed assets, prepaids)
  • Prepare, direct and coordinate Company financial reporting.
  • Prepare draft financial statements.
  • Review expense coding for employee reimbursements, utilities, and direct bill payments.
  • Reviews report and travel log for Petro Canada.
  • Reviews monthly sales tax returns (GST, HST, PST, QST), as well as PST self-assessment package.
  • Completes assigned year end working papers.
  • Cross-trained to work as a back-up for A/P and A/R clerk.
  • Manage financial audit and provide information for and assistant to external auditor.
  • Provide guidance, assistance and support for periodic physical inventory counts.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • University degree preferably in Business/Accounting.
  • 3 years of financial close and reporting experience.
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Accounting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

  • Knowledge of finance and accounting including GAAP.
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
  • Efficient with MS Office, Excel, and Access.
  • Adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Contact with employees at all levels including external auditors, tax auditors etc.

Working Conditions:

  • The work is performed in an office environment.
  • May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
  • Includes mental, physical, visual and environment conditions.
