The Senior Administrative Assistant performs a range of senior administrative and operational support duties under the general supervision of the RCMP Program Manager – PRMNY Police and Corrections Advisor:

  • Performs a wide range of operational, administrative and clerical support activities to support RCMP resources at the Mission and within the associated Area of Responsibility (AoR);
  • act on behalf of the Program, as appropriate, to: prepare correspondence and reports on police matters; attend to a wide range of other operational/ management matters; and perform a variety of diverse duties as required by the Program Manager;
  • facilitates the effective and efficient operation of the RCMP PRMNY Office, which is responsible for police cooperation with several countries within its geographic area and mandate;
  • exercises a considerable level of initiative and discretion; handles and processes sensitive, classified and urgent material and information; and performs some duties normally carried out by the Program Manager.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Experience:

  • A minimum of three years of recent experience* providing administrative support (e.g. coordinating logistics for travels, events, meetings, and responding to public inquiries, as well as providing client service regarding highly sensitive and confidential matters in a private or public sector organization.)

Asset Qualifications:Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications.

  • Recent experience working in government or a foreign mission.
  • Knowledge of international relations and Government of Canada – RCMP foreign policy objectives.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in French, both orally and in writing.

  • Normal hours of work for this position are in accordance with the Locally Engaged Staff (LES) regulations of 37.50 hours per week.

  • Occasional overtime, including evenings and weekends, may be required.
