We are looking for a Senior Advisor Finance that will report through to the Finance Business Partner Minerals and Underground. This is an important position based in Salt Lake City and responsible for assisting the Finance Business Partner in providing support to the Kennecott Minerals and Underground Operations.

Reporting to the Minerals Manager Financial Business Partner and working in a collaborative community you will be:

  • Actively provide finance business partnering support to the Kennecott Minerals and Underground teams, including attending, and participating in team meetings and workshops.
  • Monitoring and supporting the Kennecott Minerals and Underground teams to actively manage their costs; including working with the key partners across the business to ensure that these are accurately reported and projected.
  • Providing insightful information to Kennecott Minerals and Underground teams, to assist them in value-add decision making.
  • Looking for and delivering on improvement opportunities and ways to streamline and automate models and reporting processes.
  • Involved in and support the month end and forecasting processes pertaining to Minerals and the Underground operations.
  • Active involvement in the annual planning cycle including meeting with cost center owners, supporting the teams through the process, ensuring the plan is finalized in the system and overall consolidation and presentation of the costs.
  • Actively being involved in key projects in the business and participating in project evaluations within defined authority limits.

What you’ll bring

  • Degree in accounting or finance is preferred.
  • CA or CPA qualified is preferred.
  • Motivated, determined individual with ability to work autonomously.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with ability to work with large amounts of data and draw conclusions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively both face to face and remotely.
  • Ability to engage and build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Technical and operational insight and experience is a bonus.

Where you’ll be working

Our Kennecott mine is a world-class, fully integrated copper mining operation, including a concentrator, smelter, and refinery, located just outside Salt Lake City, Utah, in the United States. We produce copper, precious metals including gold and silver, molybdenum, and sulfuric acid. Kennecott has been mining and processing minerals from the rich ore body of the Bingham Canyon Mine since 1903 and is one of the top producing mines in the world, comprising approximately 11 percent of U.S. annual copper production.
