Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?Global Manager Research (GMR) is a team of analysts dedicated to providing investment manager research and due diligence in support of RBC’s global businesses and distribution platforms. The team consists of investment professionals located in the US, Canada, the UK and Asia and supports an asset base in excess of $400 billion USD. As a Senior Analyst, you will conduct initial and on-going research, analysis and due diligence of investment management firms offering mutual funds, separately managed accounts, exchange-traded funds, and sub-advisory relationships.What will you do?Assume a leading and active role on investment committees, including providing ideas and investment recommendations, in support of the management of a suite of internally-managed multi-asset portfolios offered in RBC’s global businesses.Assist in developing and mentoring junior members of the GMR team and provide leadership through actions, knowledge, and experience.Provide thoughts, opinions, and ratings on investment managers to RBC’s distribution platforms through both written and verbal communication methods.Initial and ongoing due diligence and analysis related to the firm and product structure, portfolio management, investment approach, as well as performance of multiple investment products.Provide clear and timely insight, information, and opinions on investment managers though published reports and verbal/audio communication channels.Provide meaningful and timely insight, information, and recommendations for action to appropriate investment committees for all assigned investment managers and products.As appropriate, represent GMR internally and externally in individual and/or group meetings (e.g., branch office visits, symposiums, conferences, and client meetings).Seek to continually enhance skills and build knowledge in all aspects of the organization, the business, and analytical systems.What do you need to succeed?Must-haveUndergraduate degree in business (with a preferred concentration in finance, accounting, economics, math or statistics) with 5+ years’ experience in the due diligence of investment managers.Strong understanding of key investment products and concepts including portfolio management, investment strategy (asset allocation), and investment structures (i.e. SMAs, mutual funds, UCITs).Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem solving and organizational skills.Advanced interpersonal, written and oral communication skillsDemonstrated curiosity about technological innovation combined with an ability to investigate, learn and adapt new methods to support business strategy and goals.Nice-to-haveAdvanced use of investment analytical tools including Morningstar Direct, eVestment and other research tools.CFA/CAIA designations and or advanced educational degrees.What’s in it for you?We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper.
