The EleV strategy was co-created with Indigenous communities, young people, and partners to enable 30,000 Indigenous youth to complete their education and transition to dignified work aligned with their values and aspirations.As reflected in Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action, education is a key driver of improved socio-economic well-being. While operating in distinct contexts, the centrality of youth voice and vision, affirmation of culture and identity, and priority to enhance community capacity for self-determination are common threads upon which our work is strengthened and reinforced.If you are an experienced Accounting Analyst looking to increase your impact, read on!THE OPPORTUNITYReporting to the Accounting Lead, the Senior Analyst – Accounting and Financial Reporting will ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions and share accountability for the trial balance’s maintenance and integrity. S/he will provide technical leadership and mentorship to the accounting team.WAYS YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE

  • Engages in month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Supports external audits, including preparation of working papers and gathering supporting documentation (one enterprise audit and seven Africa branch audits).
  • Oversees performance management, professional development, and training of assigned accounting team members.
  • Assists in preparing working papers for tax compliance, including statutory direct and indirect tax filings and audits.
  • Supports accounting team members and co-op students with recording bank transactions and oversees the preparation of reconciliations.
  • Tracks and reconciles occupancy costs with invoices and leases.
  • Ensures proper accounting of the Foundation’s assets and investments during the period close.
  • Undertakes additional responsibilities pertaining to accounting processes as the Accounting Lead requires.
  • Supports the development and implementation of new processes and internal control policies.
  • Manages relationships with external parties such as banks, auditors, and governing authorities.
  • Contributes to the ERP implementation project.
  • Utilizes technology to improve accounting processes’ efficiency and enhance cybersecurity awareness.
  • Contributes effectively to all team goals and deliverables.
  • Acts as a backup for month-end close duties.
  • Provides a high standard of customer service to all stakeholders.

WHO YOU ARE

  • Bachelor’s degree, professional qualification in accounting or a related field, and a CPA designation are required.
  • 3-5 years with audit and assurance experience in a similar role.
  • Supervisory experience or strong aptitude for people management is required.
  • Multi-national experience related to currency and tax accounting is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of accounting standards and a solid understanding of accounting principles and internal controls are required.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Power BI, SharePoint, etc.).
  • Previous experience with Great Plains, Workday, and SAP Concur is an added advantage.
  • Excellent time management skills and a high level of attention to detail.
  • Can-do attitude, willing to roll up sleeves and get into the details as necessary.
  • Results-driven and able to set and achieve clear objectives.
  • Ability to share finance information effectively across the organization as a business partner to non-finance colleagues.
  • Flexible and adaptable, able to execute various job duties and changing priorities.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to articulate information to various constituents across cultures.
  • Professional maturity, sensitivity to different cultures, and impeccable integrity that exemplify the Foundation’s values.
