Position Overview
The Senior Associate, Private Sector Partnerships supports fundraising and donor engagement projects across the Partnerships team, including the Business Council for the UN (BCUN) as well as provides general team support. This role will monitor projects, coordinate inter-department communication for relevant projects and partnership management efforts. In addition, The Senior Associate will support the team with partnership and UN Foundation awareness efforts generally, as well as coordinate and support the development of new and existing partnership proposals, agreements, and reports. The Senior Associate will provide core support to BCUN, including, partner engagement and communication, events, coordinating across UNF with UN Foundation’s UN Relations and other project teams, and on select partner relationships.This position is based in New York, NY or Washington, DC (Hybrid schedule).Essential Functions
- Support projects relate to UNF fundraising with a focus on private sector engagement.
- Enhance work streams within the partnerships team, particularly in sponsorship operations around major events.
- Establish long- and short-term project plans, including setting targets for milestones, adhering to deadlines and allocating resources.
- Serve as Partnerships point of contact for teams when multiple units are assigned to the same project to ensure team actions remain in synergy.
- Keep updated and organized notes on each partner relationships, scheduling regular check-in calls, and connecting across UNF to maintain synergy with relationships.
- Ensure all partner and prospective briefs and reports and contracts are updated accordingly.
- Responsible for knowing and understanding UNF due diligence processes and policies.
- Coordinate communication across relevant teams and stakeholders as it relates to event planning and management.
- Conduct research on partners, corporate relations, corporate social responsibility, NGO fundraising trends, and major donor prospects.
- Prepare donor and prospect profiles, reports, and briefings for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Evaluate project timelines and progress to ensure all stakeholders are on track to meet deadlines.
- Assist with coordination and planning for major fundraising events and coordinate on BCUN member engagement events from planning to execution.
- Work closely with BCUN member companies to identify areas of collaboration and support UN engagement opportunities, acting as a relationship manager on key partnerships.
- Support all communication efforts for BCUN, including monthly newsletter, member updates, coordination around check-ins and events, presentations and website.
- Develop annual plans for BCUN’s member and prospect engagement, in collaboration with the Partnerships team and consulting relevant UNF teams.
- Execute administrative duties of BCUN, including Salesforce management, agreements invoicing, due diligence, and payment systems, collaborating with Contacts and Finance teams where necessary.
- Support recruitment and management of team interns, and other duties as assigned.
Selection Criteria
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in international relations, business and sustainability or similar field.
- At least three years of related experience.
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills to analyze data and understand its relationship to the overall fundraising objectives and ability to provide a written assessment.
- Experience using Salesforce to manage relationships, draft and finalize agreements, and invoicing.
- Ability to identify, create and manage processes required to support effective partnerships.
- Comfortable operating in UN and diplomatic settings.
- Familiarity with UN systems.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and relationship management skills.
- Prioritizes and manages multiple assignments simultaneously and able to adapt to changing and competing needs.
- Exceptional customer service orientation required.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, and strong attention to detail.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to meet regular attendance/tardiness policy.
- Event management experience.
- Willingness to travel domestically.
- Highly proficient with MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
