Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the Opportunity?In this role you will get the opportunity to support the end-to-end delivery of new capabilities and enhancements to applications for our clients and our advisors at RBC Bank, across all product and service offerings. Working as a Senior Business Analyst, responsible for all aspects of requirements delivery, planning, elicitation, analysis, documentation, and support impact both business and technology for our cross-border banking products.The role requires someone comfortable with deliverables on projects that could be a either waterfall (WF) or agile, depending on the need. As a Senior Business Analyst, the role includes process mapping, UAT and PIV planning and requires someone capable of working on more than one initiative at once. The initiatives include transformational initiatives that drives both client experience improvements and operational efficiency, and also non-discretionary changes to meet new and elevated regulatory requirements.What will you do?
- Work with product, technology and functional partners to plan and run requirements gathering sessions, across Deposits, Credit Cards, Personal Loans, Certificates of Deposit, Real Estate Lending products, for different channels and services, such as Online Banking, Credit Card Rewards and digital communication delivery
- Write comprehensive requirements to support changes to IT systems and/or processes according to the project methodology.
- In the case of agile projects, partner closely with the Product Owner to ensure the execution team have a backlog, with stories that are consistently high quality, prioritized and sized.
- Where required, partner closely with Application Managers, Vendor Relationship Management, and Procurement to obtain estimates and refine technology requirements to meet business objectives
- Assist in solution recommendations, including evaluation of 3rd party vendor requirements and solutions
- Plan both UAT and PIV activities, with effective partnering with QE to ensure sufficient test coverage and rectify any requirements related deficiencies
- Support defect triage and escalate project issues during testing phase while leading the UAT/PIV testing effort with business users, where required
- Support Scrum Masters (Agile) / Project Managers (WF) in project status reporting for leadership, where required
- Build and maintain a repository of reusable requirements to support future projects and knowledge sharing
- Act as subject matter expert on product systems and/or process, writing training documentation as required
- Partner with Process owners and procedure writing team to support the creation or update of procedures
- Encourage positive team culture, fostering an environment of strong collaboration within the project team and stakeholders, following ways of working that drive toward beneficial outcomes for RBC Bank and our clients.
What do you need to succeed?Must-have
- 5 years working experience as a Business Analyst and/or Business Systems Analyst on increasingly complex projects
- Relevant college, university, or post-graduate degree in Business Analysis
- Excellent communications skills, able to indirectly influence others, and collaborates in insightful problem solving
- Experience writing requirements across both UI and back-end system changes (e.g. API specifications)
- Experience writing standardized requirements, including user stories, business and systems specifications, business context diagrams, business process maps, use cases and user story maps.
- Experience working on agile projects, or a strong understanding of the differences between agile and waterfall approaches
- Experience developing “To–Be” processes and documenting gaps identified
- Experience planning and writing test scenarios
- 1 year+ experience working in financial services
- JIRA and Confluence experience
Nice-to-have
- Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or Project Management Institute –Professional in Business Analysis Certification (PMI – PBA)
- Previous software development experience
- Previous project management experience
