Our Role
It is an exciting year ahead at The White Company, and the IT Project Delivery & Digital teams play a key part in making the business’s strategy a success; by ensuring that new projects deliver business value; to specification, on time and on budget. We have a wide variety of projects in the roadmap this year including a packed portfolio of digital initiatives by enhancing the features of our current Hybris digital platform and end-to-end multichannel systems. Working for example in our digital “Buy” squad, you would deliver essential change that gives our customers a frictionless, simplified, localized, and personalised buying journey.
Our Senior Business Analysts are key to unlocking The White Company’s continued growth and success. We are looking for a passionate Senior Business Analyst with a broad range of retail experience, specialising in digital and eCommerce. The ideal Senior BA would be naturally inquisitive, have a diverse range of analysis and presentation skills and would be motivated by delivering value to the highest expectations of our customers and business stakeholders.
As part of the wider IT team you will be a member of our Business Analysis Community of Practice; a group of BA practitioners who are constantly sharing knowledge and experiences, reviewing our ways of working, learning and improving in our BA skills and expertise.

What you’ll be doing
BA Services
- Business Analysis services throughout the end-to-end project lifecycle (or as part of a continuous improvement squad) including change stages such as research, discovery, shaping, analysis, design, development, testing and transition to BAU.
- Requirements elicitation, documentation, verification, sign-off & management (queries/changes) including the analysis of strategy, business OKRs (Objectives & Key Results), feature ideas and high-level business needs from Product Owners & Business Stakeholders into high quality stories, requirements & acceptance criteria.
- To translate the design artefacts into functional and non-functional specifications for internal and external stakeholders.
- Backlog Management (features / requirements).
- Situation investigation e.g. business & system issues, problems, or opportunities.
- Resolution of requirement and change conflicts and contradictions.
- To assist Business Change, Product Owners & Project Managers with pre-project discovery, scoping, estimations for BA effort (time/cost for incl. considerations for Front-End/Back-End/QA), business cases development (alongside digital Product Owners).
- To support Project Managers with risk management, daily stand-ups, status updates etc.
- Process analysis.
- To assist the business through decision-making to drive design and solution thinking.
- To facilitate and participate in Sprint Planning, “3 Amigos” and Refinement sessions.
- To manage relationships and activities with project-related third parties and key project delivery sessions (selection, comms., onboarding etc.).
- To collaborate with UX and UI designers.
- To collaborate with the digital Squad (Developers, QA) and Solution Architects in clarifying requirements and evolving the solution in various grooming, ceremony, and demo sessions. To also participate and support preparation for Design Authority sessions.
- To provide support to testers and the business throughout the project lifecycle e.g. SIT walkthroughs, feature overviews, test scenarios, requirement queries clarifications, issue & defect triage / investigation etc..
- To collaborate with Product Owners, Business Change and IT services to smooth the transition from projects to BAU, including support to trainers, participation in Go/No-Gos and release planning.
- To balance solution quality whilst protecting project scope, time and budget.
- To own and lead aspects in the BA Community of Practice; including the continual evaluation and improvement of our BA practices, projects lessons learnt, new domain knowledge sharing and driving Business Analysis as a Service.
- To mentor and guide more junior BA team members.

The skills & experience that you’ll need
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in business analysis.
- At least 3 years specialising in Digital & E-Commerce, ideally with projects that involved complex end-to-end customer journeys, multi-system changes, integration technologies, stock management and order fulfilment. Previous exposure to e-Comm concepts e.g. web analytics, SEO, content management.
- Advantageous: Project experience in digital personalisation, frictionless commerce, localisation, delivery options, payment options / e-wallets, mobile apps, subscriptions.
- Excellent knowledge of analysis techniques and principles – ideally BCS / ISEB or IIBA qualified to a minimum “Practitioner” level.
- Good at solving business and technology problems (getting to the root cause of issues and creative solution thinking). Ability to think ahead on likely issues.
- Good knowledge of Agile ways of working (preferably SCRUM) e.g. roles, themes, epics, user stories, backlogs, wireframes, ceremonies etc..
- Experience working within a team that has a mix of Product Owners and Business Analysts.
- Skilled in balancing when to focus on detail vs keeping analysis high level and broad.
- Good knowledge of the retail industry and standard retail operating models .
- Demonstrable ability to produce analysis artefacts to tight deadlines.
- Good commercial and business awareness, and experience of working across the full project lifecycle, preferably also with waterfall projects.
- Functional knowledge of Hybris (Certified in Hybris Business Analysis v6+ desirable).
- Advanced communication skills, and the ability to work within diverse multi skilled teams.
- Good knowledge of Word, Excel, JIRA.
- Results and Objectives-driven with an understanding of how to map this to value, change and requirements
- Familiarity with process modelling principles and tools e.g. Visio, Blueworks.
- Optional but beneficial: working knowledge of IT Architecture (concepts, principles etc.)

- Ability to prioritise workload efficiently to ensure smooth pipeline of work for the development team and support the development team in sprint.
