Our team members have what they need to make a meaningful impact and are truly valued for who they are and what they contribute.To learn more about CIBC, please visitWhat you’ll be doingThe Senior Consultant, EAML Control and Deficiency Management is responsible to assign Issues within the team and ensure oversight of Issues across the Bank with Money Laundering/Terrorist Financing & Sanctions risk. The Senior Consultant is responsible to support the control environment for ML/TF & Sanctions risk and works with stakeholders to manage the control library. The Senior consultant prepares and manages the Monthly Internal Management Review of all Issues with ML/TF & Sanctions risk for the CAMLO, supports regular assertions and assessments for Issues and Controls and contributes to the effective and timely closure of Issues. The Senior Consultant is also responsible to oversee higher risk and complex Issues, providing effective challenge to remediation, escalating any concerns and performing validation. The Senior Consultant provides counsel and oversight on action plans and liaises effectively with Business partners, Internal Audit, AML Testing (CEEP) and Operational Risk (GORM). The role interacts with stakeholders across EAML and the lines of business, including all regions. Other responsibilities include tracking exams underway, providing standard reporting and metrics/volumes on Issues for board and management reporting, performing analysis on Issue data, as well as leading operational improvement initiatives within the team and actively managing the team’s procedures.At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.How you’ll succeedAML control & deficiency management – Assist in the coordination of AML/Sanction related examinations by Regulators, Internal Audit and 2nd line testing functions. Maintaining governance of AML/Sanction related deficiencies to ensure timely resolution and sustainability of actions to remediate findings.Regulatory oversight – Oversee higher risk and complex Issues, providing effective challenge to remediation and performing validation.Effective communication – Preparation of comprehensive analysis and presentations regarding CIBC’s Enterprise AML Program to the CAMLO, Senior Management and Executives, enterprise-wide.Operational risk management – Ensure adherence to the CIBC Operational Risk Management requirements including providing support as required for the Risk and Control Self-Assessment Process on a biennial basis.Analytics and data management – Extract, manage, and analyze data from various sources and/or across multiple systems.Relationship management – Build strong business relationships with stakeholders by leveraging effective communication and relationship management skills to make an impact. Ability to work collaboratively across EAML and with other stakeholders on audits, examinations and deficiency management.Continuous improvement – Actively lead the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of internal procedures, practices, and tools to simplify and improve current deficiency management processes.Who you areYou can demonstrate experience with Issue Management including understanding root cause, action planning and appropriate evidence.You understand Internal Controls including how to identify and document them appropriately.You have a working knowledge of Canadian AML/ATF laws and regulations, including 3+ years of experience in financial services, preferably with a background in AML or Financial Crime.You have a degree/diploma in Business, law or accounting or a related field, or equivalent experience.You can demonstrate experience in interpreting data, making recommendations, and preparing reporting for a variety of audience and stakeholders. It’s an asset if you have experience in using analytical, data management and visualization tools, particularly Excel, VBA programming and Tableau.You have a proven ability to work in a fast paced, ambiguous environment and to effectively manage multiple activities with varying complexity while under tight time frames.You act like an owner.
