You will collaborate with internal stakeholders to define data management strategies, establish data management standards and best practices, and drive company initiatives to improve data literacy, data discovery and understanding, and data quality and integrity. This role is a data champion for the organization by providing leadership and guidance to business leaders, data owners and stewards, custodians and IT teams at CWB.What You Will Be Doing.Data Governance Leadership. Stakeholder Engagement. Data Stewardship. Data Quality Management. Change Management. Data Governance Tools and Technology. Reporting & Metrics.Develop and communicate a strategic vision and roadmap for effective data management and governance.Establish data governance strategies, policies, and standards that align with business goals and regulatory requirements.Lead projects to operationalize data governance and ensure collaboration with data owners.Collaborate with business leaders and IT teams to define roles and responsibilities in data governance.Facilitate working groups to address data management challenges and maintain relationships with stakeholders.Develop a deep understanding of data to analyze business requirements impacting data.Guide a team of data stewards in defining roles and ensuring access to reliable, harmonized data.Maintain an inventory of data stewards and ensure compliance with data security and privacy regulations.Define and establish metrics and processes for monitoring and improving data quality.Lead initiatives for data cleansing and issue resolution, conducting regular assessments to maintain standards.Develop and maintain metadata standards, ensuring consistent terminology and accurate data catalogs.Implement tools for metadata management and data lineage tracking.Drive organizational change to foster a culture of data stewardship and accountability.Provide training sessions on data literacy and governance principles.Evaluate and manage data governance technologies to support effective data management practices.Ensure data requirements are accurately mapped within governance tools.Monitor trends and regulatory changes to identify opportunities for enhancing data management processes.Lead initiatives to improve data governance maturity and effectiveness.Develop regular reports on data governance activities and quality metrics.Establish KPIs to evaluate the effectiveness of data governance initiatives.Skills and competencies that will take you furtherEducationPost-secondary degree or diploma in computer science or a related fieldProfessional Experience5 years’ experience in implementing data management best practices, data governance and or data stewardship programs3 years’ experience implementing data stewardship operating modelsStrong understanding of data quality principles, data modeling concepts, and database technologiesKnowledge of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) and industry best practicesExperience with Data Governance tools and technology (i.e. Collibra and Manta) toolsets in the areas of data profiling, extract-transform-load, data quality management, master data management, and meta-data managementPreferred Knowledge:Strong knowledge and experience with data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK)Working knowledge of Data Management Functions: MDM, Data Warehouse & Business Intelligence, Metadata Management, Data QualityBest practice knowledge of implementation of Data Stewardship operating modelsCertification in data management is an asset (e.g., CDMP, CIMP)Knowledge of data integration tools and techniquesFamiliarity with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)Experience working in regulated industries such as healthcare, finance, or governmentPersonal CompetenciesExcellent communication, both written and verbal in developing policies, procedures and presentations and reports at both technical and business user levelStrong facilitation and negotiation skills to work with and build consensus and understanding regarding data management and data governanceChange management skills, including conflict resolution, high attention to detail and committed to maintaining data integrity and securityAbility to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders (technical and non-technical stakeholders)Able to understand complex data maps, business requirements, data modelling, dimensional modelling and technical metadataWhy work with us?Your success is our obsession!
