Applications are invited from enthusiastic dentists for this post based at our clinics in Norwich Thorpe Health Centre and Thetford Healthy Living Centre. The post may also involve working regularly at other clinics in Norfolk and is offered on a full or part time basis.Main duties of the jobThe post holder will deliver dental care and advice to patients and their carers from community groups, including patients with additional needs, who are clients of Community Dental Services. Services to be provided include preventive care and advice, dental treatment, care under sedation and general anaesthesia, and epidemiological field work. Working at other locations to support the client group will be required including domiciliary care and local hospitals. Community Dental Services encourages postgraduate education and development. Mentorship and training will be provided to support this if required.About usWe are excited to be able to offer a £13,000 employment incentive. • Full registration with the General Dental Council
• NHS performer number

ExperienceEssential

• High levels of competency in dentistry.
• Ability to demonstrate empathy with patients requiring special care dentistry.
• Deliver inhalation and intravenous sedation.
• Good communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
• Appropriate IT skills.
• Ability to plan and organise.
• Ability to demonstrate understanding of the issues relating to the management of clinical dental services.
• Demonstrate good management/supervisory skills.
• Ability to lead and work as part of a healthcare team.
• Ability to manage change effectively.
• Demonstrable teaching skills.
• Understanding of the legal and ethical framework within which dentists practice, particularly those pertinent to special care dentistry.
• Ability to appraise scientific literature critically.
• Wide experience of primary dental care.
• Experience in providing dental care for patients with complex co-morbidities including those people with additional needs, a learning disability and/or mental health problems, and the frail older people.
• Experience in providing dental care using inhalation and/or intravenous sedation.

• Involvement in clinical audit.
