What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Director, Commercial Credit, you will manage a major segment of risk rated credits from Commercial Banking in Western Canada. By exercising good credit judgment and providing leadership to a group of risk managers, you will ensure that effective credit policies and strategies are in place and are adhered to in order to sustain portfolio quality and support effective portfolio growth. You will invest in relationships with visits to locations and some travel will be required to meet partners and clients or to work with the wider team.

How You’ll Succeed

Risk Management Leadership – You will manage and develop a team of Credit Risk professionals, sharing knowledge, growing skill, supporting productivity as well as employee engagement objectives. You will represent or lead as required in projects/initiatives that have both Regional and National scope. You will interface with Leadership in our Business Partners, aligning objectives, activities and resources, and support the growth of credit capability and relationship trust with Commercial Bankers.

Transactional Adjudication Expertise – You will ensure sound credit judgment is applied to credit requests, shaping credit solutions to align with our Risk Appetite. You will support evolution of and effective execution of approved risk rating methodologies, develop and maintain industry expertise within your team for the assigned industry sectors covered, and ensure credit applications and credit policies and processes are effectively managed, documented and adhered to.

Portfolio Management – Measure, monitor and control credit risks, actively engaging your team to identify and assess challenges in accounts, industries, and shape action plans to effectively minimize capital and resource costs and loan losses. You will manage and review reporting processes to ensure that credit irregularities are identified and resolved on a timely basis and ensure performance of portfolio for trends; non-performing and problem accounts; assessing revenue and loss experience ratios; identification of under-performing units. Overall, you will assess effectiveness of current credit policies and procedures, develop action plans outlining corrective actions to be taken to resolve credit problems; and monitor such corrective plans for resolution and effectiveness.

Who You Are

You can demonstrate experience. Extensive experience and knowledge of commercial business and credit practices in order to assess different customer requirements, and effectively sort and prioritize relevant risk factors.

You have a degree/diploma. In Business/Finance/Accounting, MBA or equivalent. Proficiency in Fundamental Financial Skills for Commercial Lending.
