Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the Opportunity?As part of the Group Risk Management (GRM) Enterprise Conduct and Reputation Risk senior leadership team, the Senior Director, Conduct and Compensation Risk will be responsible for fulfilling and enhancing RBC’s risk-related compensation practices across the enterprise in all business and functional segments and regions. Key responsibilities include priorities to maintain alignment with mature industry practices and regulatory requirements, collaborating with human resources, and providing active oversight of compensation risks.The GRM Enterprise Conduct and Reputation Risk team is accountable for the Enterprise Culture and Conduct Risks Framework and the Enterprise Reputation Risk Management Framework. Through these frameworks the team provides the enterprise-wide strategy and direction to enable RBC to identify, measure, monitor, and mitigate risks associated with culture, conduct, reputation, client practices, and compensation.What will you do?(a) Lead evolution of RBC’s Compensation Risk Management Operating Model
- Provide thought leadership to articulate priorities and secure stakeholder support for enhancing operating model and practices.
- Manage, challenge, and refine governance for risk-based compensation decisions.
- Oversee ongoing development of binding governance documents (frameworks, policies, standards, etc.) that include clear roles and responsibilities aligned with the three lines of defence, and incorporate enterprise consistency.
- Maintain robust regulatory compliance management program.
(b) Lead Enterprise Compensation Risk Practices
- Drive and continuously enhance the effectiveness of enterprise-wide compensation risk practices including the identification of material risk takers and other covered employees, risk-related performance goals for leaders, and corresponding measurement of results and compensation outcomes.
- Collaborate with leaders in disciplines that intersect with compensation risk including human resources, compliance, enterprise and operational risk, finance, and legal to produce comprehensive compensation risk profiles at the enterprise level, and by segment and region.
- Provide input and oversight to compensation plan risk assessments.
- Deliver impactful reporting and governance inputs including enterprise chief risk officer (CRO) reports; working with regional CRO teams on their own compensation risk reporting to ensure alignment.
- Fulfil external disclosures and regulatory responses.
(c) Lead Culture, Conduct, and Reputation Risks Programs
- Lead and integrate various dimensions and priorities of the broader enterprise culture, conduct, reputation, and operational risk programs.
(d) Act as a leader in Operational Risk / Group Risk Management
- Drives a culture of integrity and behaviours that align to RBC’s Code of Conduct and professional standards.

What do you need to succeed?Must Have:
- 10 to 15+ years of experience in progressively responsible roles in regulated industries with direct exposure to enterprise-wide mandates and enterprise/operational risk management.
- Seasoned at stakeholder and change management, and building compelling cases for change.
- Strong understanding of compensation risk practices.
- Comfort working under ambiguous, complex, multi-stakeholder and fast-moving situations whilst driving initiatives to successful completion.
- Expert governance-risk-compliance (GRC) acumen through three lines of defence roles.
- Advanced skills in working across geographies and in a matrixed environment.
- Deep capability interpreting and implementing regulatory requirements.
- Proven people management experience.
- University degree in business or related discipline.
Nice-to-Have:
- CPA, MBA, Law certifications/professional designation.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of RBC businesses and organization.
