SUMMARY
The Senior Director, Family Office Accounting under the direction of the TFG Chief Accounting Officer, will be a strategic and impactful leader supporting the company shareholders.. This Senior Director will be responsible for the Family Office financial and accounting operations and will be a key business partner to other Family Office leaders in the areas of Tax, Legal, Treasury, Business Development, Asset Management, and Strategic Planning.

Requires the ability to effectively advise shareholders and their advisors on complex situations in close coordination and in collaboration with other Family Office leaders. This position requires someone who is highly organized, has excellent project management skills, strong financial acumen, eloquent communication skills (both written and verbal), and previous similar experience.

This leader must display strong leadership and coaching skills to assist in the continuous professional development of the Family Office Accounting team. Further, this leader must demonstrate strong systems and business process knowledge and have a keen focus and demonstrated strengths in optimizing business processes and leveraging technology to improve efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of responses within the Family Office. This leader must also demonstrate an ability to think outside the box to support ad hoc, time sensitive requests, and to act with a sense of urgency in all matters supporting the shareholders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Directs all aspects of the Family Office Accounting function for multiple generations including but not limited to:

  • Leadership, direction and oversight of shareholders’ financial management.

Provide financial insights and support for all Family Office strategic initiatives requiring finance and accounting support and or oversight. * Resolve any shareholder inquires, issues, and special requests quickly and accurately.

  • Ensure that all financial data is recorded accurately and on time within Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP), if applicable, and company policy.
  • Continuously evaluate internal controls to protect shareholder and company assets.
  • Develop and maintain well-documented Family Office processes and procedures in support of business continuity.
  • Develop, review and ensure distribution of standard, recurring monthly, quarterly or annual financial reports to shareholders, business managers and shareholder advisors.
  • Support tax and estate planning activities, including providing all necessary financial records necessary to complete annual tax filing requirements.
  • Monitoring the activities of the Company and advise senior management of strategies to ensure the Company maintains compliance with all regulatory, state and federal tax laws.
  • Provide oversight of third-party service providers to ensure compliance with expectations as documented within engagement letters and in accordance with company policies and procedures.Participating in training and estate planning workshops to ensure the Companies and shareholder advisors stay abreast of regulatory guidelines and new trends in the field.
  • Maintain records and accounting for residences, properties, art collections, vehicles, and other personal assets.
  • Provide on-going fiduciary guidance to the owners’ trustees.
  • Provide financial, planning and analysis services in connection with trust transactions.
  • Responsibly receive, transmit, and handle consumer and customer data per applicable policies and procedures.
  • Review and follow data privacy practices, policies, and guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises one or more employees. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; plus 15 to 20 years functional and leadership experience within a medium to large multi-entity corporation or family office (minimum of 8-10 years within medium to large family office including Controller/Director experience); or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Designation preferred. MBA or Master’s degree preferred.

Must be able to communicate complex and detailed matters with various levels of internal and external parties. Demonstrated ability to build long-term successful relationships with senior executives, business unit leaders and staff. Planning and organization capabilities and attention to detail are critical skills. Advanced knowledge of S-Corp, partnership taxation and tax concepts in a multi-entity, multi-state structure are preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of the job, the associate is required on a daily basis to analyze and interpret data, communicate, and remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the work day; and frequently access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The associate is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The associate is occasionally required to travel to other sites, including out-of-state, where applicable, for business. The associate must frequently move up to 10 pounds and occasionally move up to 25 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While the job is generally performed in an office environment, the associate is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, areas in which moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals are present, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the office environment is typically quiet, but the associate may be occasionally exposed to loud noise levels. Minimal travel is required for this position (up to 20% of the time and on a domestic basis).
