Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?This role is a key leadership opportunity within the CFO Group, leading the Personal Banking & Commercial Banking Platform Financial Control team. This role reports into the VP & Controller and leads a high-performing team with overall responsibility for the financial control and governance framework for the platform. The Senior Director, Platform Financial Control, will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial results, helping to identify and remediate emerging financial risks and working across the CFO group and with business partners to streamline and simplify processes. The role acts as the Centre of Expertise for all Financial and Regulatory reporting matters and is expected to bring a continuous improvement mindset to the role including the build out of data and analytics capabilities.What will you do?

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight over the financial control function for Personal & Commercial Banking Finance and act as a valued advisor to business partners.
  • Lead the accurate and timely performance of key controllership processes (for example, reconciliations/attestations and financial statement close).
  • Drive change, leading transformation projects that challenge the status quo to mitigate emerging risks and drive efficiencies.
  • Advance the Finance SOX program to proactively respond to risks as they emerge and act in an advisory capacity for business partners.
  • Streamline, simplify and automate the design and execution of internal controls and processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial information.
  • This role works very closely with groups across the organization, including other Financial Control teams, Performance Management, Shared Services, Group Risk Management, product owners and other business support functions.
  • Manage a team of engaged accounting professionals, providing coaching and mentorship to drive exceptional team performance.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to identify and execute on change management initiatives with the ability to impact and influence across teams and senior management.
  • People management skills and ability to build trusted relationships with business partners
  • Conflict and issue resolution ability and the ability to challenge effectively.
  • Strong organization and time management skills; ability to multi-task and handle demands from multiple sources amidst tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of external reporting disclosures, financial accounting, and control mindset
  • Professional Accounting/Finance designation (CPA, CA preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in Accounting/Finance related roles, including management of medium to large sized teams
