Job Summary The Climate Strategy & Governance Team (CS&G) takes a OneRBC approach to own and accelerate RBC’s climate ambition, ensuring strong alignment cross-enterprise on climate-related initiatives, monitoring the external market, managing public engagement, tracking commitments and targets, leading disclosures, driving best practices and thought leadership, and managing a climate funding and resource pool.

Reporting to the VP, Enterprise Climate Strategy, the Senior Director, Stakeholder Engagement supports CS&G by building relationships with key stakeholder groups and disseminating insights internally. The role will develop and implement a comprehensive and structured approach to stakeholder engagement, and look to build long term trusted relationships with groups. This will help to draw out insights of evolving stakeholder expectations to inform our strategy.

What is the Opportunity?

The Climate Strategy & Governance Team (CS&G) takes a OneRBC approach to own and accelerate RBC’s climate ambition, ensuring strong alignment cross-enterprise on climate-related initiatives, monitoring the external market, managing public engagement, tracking commitments and targets, leading disclosures, driving best practices and thought leadership, and managing a climate funding and resource pool.

Reporting to the VP, Enterprise Climate Strategy, the Senior Director, Stakeholder Engagement supports CS&G by building relationships with key stakeholder groups and disseminating insights internally.

The role will develop and implement a comprehensive and structured approach to stakeholder engagement, and look to build long term trusted relationships with groups. This will help to draw out insights of evolving stakeholder expectations to inform our strategy.

What will you do?

  • Work across the enterprise to build relationships with key external stakeholders
  • Focus on relationships where there are opportunities for building deeper partnerships such as research or investments.
  • Determine cadence of engagement, leveraging internal partners and specific topics of interest
  • Represent RBC with key stakeholders (bringing in other internal climate SMEs as appropriate)
  • Lead on key industry group climate relationships
  • Lead on RBC engagements with investors and shareholders on climate topics

Track engagements to capture insights and follow ups

What do you need to succeed?

Must-Have

  • 10+ years of experience in stakeholder relations with preference for experience with an NGO, governmental organization and/or financial services; experience in climate/ sustainability roles a benefit
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and build a variety of stakeholder relationships with varying degrees of needs and navigating large, complex and matrixed organizations.
  • Demonstrated passion and interest in driving environmental and social change within and beyond the enterprise
  • Deep business knowledge and acumen, and a strong understanding of relevant climate and sustainability issues
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, relationship building and storytelling skills
  • Ability to interact across all levels of the organization with impact and influence, acting as a climate ambassador across the organization

Ability to work horizontally across businesses and functions

Nice-to-Have:

MBA, accounting designation and/or CFA
