NV EnergyPosition Title: Senior Engineer- Substation DesignJob ID: 107184Location: Reno, NVFacility: Sierra PlazaDepartment: Substation Design Eng NorthFull/Part Time: Full-TimeRegular/Temporary: RegularTravel Percentage: 5 – 10%Description:ResponsibilitiesBasic PurposeProvides comprehensive engineering design services for substation facilities and ensures the facilities are constructed on schedule and within committed resource allocations. Provides leadership, training, and direction to fellow staff members. Demonstrates more complex technical work and directs others in technical work in performing all phases of projects with minimal guidance. Assists principal engineers and managers on higher-level projects.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelops economical, technically feasible, reliable substation physical and control designs with minimal supervision and guidance. Technical management of multiple substation projects and prioritization of work, working collaboratively with outside consulting firms and internal stakeholders.Ensures quality control on assigned projects by providing construction support as needed, including coordination with construction forces and job site inspections.Provides coordination and communication with other departments in completing procurement tasks on projects with minimal supervision or guidance.Assists and guides other departments in the solution of non-standard substation design problems.Provides accurate cost estimates for use in company budgeting procedures such that cash flow requirements are identified.Provides input for development of detailed project schedules and update project management system to reflect the status of projects assigned.Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company.Performs related duties as assigned.RequirementsEssential Education, Skills, and EnvironmentEducation and Work ExperienceBachelor’s degree from accredited school in electrical engineering and 5 years industry experience as a practicing engineer and must be a licensed PE. If no PE license, must have 8+ years as a practicing engineer.Specialized Knowledge and SkillsDemonstrated knowledge of:Substation/control engineering principals and knowledge of other phases of engineering.Areas of cost control, budgets, finance, and accounting with technical experiences in cost analysis.Demonstrated skills such as:Analytical, interpersonal and communication with company personnel, customers, and regulatory agenciesMulti-tasking, leadership, research, analysis, project management, problem-solving and decision-making.Equipment and ApplicationsPCs, word processing, spreadsheet and database software.Work Environment and Physical DemandsGeneral office environment with some field work for supervision.CompensationAnnual Salary: $100,700 (Min) to $118,400 (Mid); Up to 15% Short Term Incentive Plan target opportunity at the discretion of the company.
