Job description

As Senior Cost Business Partner you will provide best in class cost analysis, reporting and planning for the wider group, focusing on Operations. Your support will give key stakeholders and Directors real insight into the cost base and strategic investments, providing them with timely, accurate and consistent information. You will also work closely with the Operations team to identify and deliver cost savings.

  • Lead the budgeting and planning process for the Group including rolling forecasts. This will include FTE, staff and non-staff costs;
  • Produce high quality month end and forecast output with clear & concise commentary;
  • Use KPIs to measure and challenge business cost performance;
  • Business partner key stakeholders & Directors across the Group
  • Ensure financial results are clearly communicated including preparation of monthly cost and FTE reports that are timely and accurate;
  • Ensure consistent standards in terms of process and reporting quality and work collaboratively across the Finance team;
  • Manage R&O processes in collaboration with the Business to minimise surprises;
  • Investigate cost performance issues and create ad hoc analysis to add to business intelligence;
  • Prepare variance analysis, understanding key drivers and one-off items;
  • Work with Controllership team to review month end results and review of journals/accruals;
  • Working with Operations management team to identify & develop potential opportunities, supporting business case creation and working closely with management to track delivery.
  • Deliver financial performance reporting to the Board, Exco, Group and internal customers ensuring high quality, accurate information on a timely basis;
  • Update and maintain relevant forecasting and planning models and materials including process documents;
  • Continue to find ways of improving our own business intelligence, to understand why and what is happening, therefore giving us the insight to affect future outcomes;
  • Undertake quality control checks / audits to ensure model governance requirements for key models are maintained within the team;

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA)
  • Experience of business partnering and cost planning in previous organisations, ideally for Operations
  • Experience of project reporting and planning in previous organisations
  • Strong communication, presentation and influencing skills
  • Clear thinker with the ability to present simple analysis from complex data
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage to tight deadlines
  • Ability to business partner and communicate with non-finance stakeholders effectively
  • High degree of integrity and credibility with senior management
  • Team player
  • Self-starter with a strong sense of urgency and follow up
  • Excellent Excel & PowerPoint skills
