Role extends to oversight of the business unit financial control teams and running the Financial Controller Forum for the group. The role is also a key contact for the Bank Finance and Risk teams, as well as the external auditorsRESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage central financial control team responsible for performing Bank month end close, consolidation and statutory reporting
  • Oversight of the business financial control teams to ensure compliance and consistency across the Bank along with providing accounting and financial control support
  • Partner with other “Centre’s of Excellence” including accounting policy, regulatory reporting and tax to deliver an efficient and effective Finance service to the Banking Division
  • Ensure compliance with the Group Accounting Manual and any new standards including assisting in the implementation thereof
  • Preparation of accounting papers as required including obtaining sign off from both internal stakeholders and external auditors
  • Manage interim and year end statutory reporting requirements liaising with the external auditors and Group
  • Senior manager within the Bank Finance Function – demonstrate behaviour commensurate with that role, providing inspirational and motivational leadership and direction to the Finance Team and the wider employee base. Work with the broader team to create a ‘high performance’ culture based on open, honest and regular feedback, challenge, discussion and debate

  • Experience of working in a high-performance Finance environment
  • A strong, effective business and people manager
  • Significant experience in serving multiple P&L owners across diverse business lines, including juggling multiple and competing stakeholder demands
  • Significant experience of exercising financial and accounting controls
  • Evidence of taking ownership and adding value in complex and demanding situation
  • Appropriate gravitas to work effectively at Board level and with senior management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to influence others and effective at stakeholder management
  • An excellent communicator with an open and direct style
  • Resilient and thrives on a challenge, an excellent relationship builder, motivated by creating a strong team to deliver a quality service
  • Qualified accountant or equivalent
