At STERIS, we help our Customers create a healthier and safer world by providing innovative healthcare and life science product and service solutions around the globe.Position SummaryThe Manager, Health Safety & Environment is responsible for providing HSE support to various STERIS EMEA businessunits within STERIS AST, and the HSE regional teams in regard to the implementation site risk assessments, statutorycompliance, and STERIS global VPP Star program..Work closely with local/divisional management and the operational business to champion, communicate and ensure thedelivery of the AST EMEA HSE strategy with the objective of making and keeping the business safe against existing andemerging health and safety, and environmental risks.DutiesHealth, Safety and Environmental Management (85%)1. Provide proactive, efficient and professional HSE advice, coaching and support to identified businesses andfunctional teams.2. Ensure that effective management of Navigator, Cority and/or other related HSE operating systems and/orapplications that are embedded and maintained at a divisional and operational level.3. Organize, administer and support the HSE comms (weekly, monthly) meetings, ensuring the active participationand engagement by all required internal and external stakeholders.4. Support the development, completion and ongoing review of risk assessments, advising on the suitability andapplication of risk control measures, identify and report on inadequately controlled risks and non-compliancewith statutory or internal non-compliance.5. Support the effective administration and document control of business segment HSE policies, performancestandards, procedures and guidelines.6. Support the development of and deliver HSE training and other engagement initiatives that improve Associateawareness, competency and safety performance.7. Support the development of a HSE training matrix and deliver training and other engagement initiatives thatimprove Associate awareness, competency and safety performance.8. Monitor and report on training completion, performance and compliance, using feedback to identifyopportunities for improvement.9. Support the organization as a subject matter expert in workplace safety and behavior-based observationprocesses, measures of success, and Associate training.10. Ensure that all incidents, accidents, near misses are appropriately reported, classified, investigated, escalatedand managed per STERIS and/or other legal requirements.11. Prepare and distribute applicable Safety Alerts to affected operations and teams.12. Timely and accurately report on regional safety performance, supporting the collection and analysis of safetyperformance data and HSE metrics, identifying areas of concern and appropriate actions.13. Maintain knowledge and awareness of HSE legislation, best practice and emerging risks, reporting changes thatmay impact the business and support the development of effective response strategies.14. Support, through a Legal Register, the identification, communication and implementation of existing, new and/or revisions to existing environmental regulations. 15. Provide support to other STERIS business units which operate within Czech Republic, Germany and Slovenia where local, regional or language support is required. 16. Support the translation of all HSE initiatives, policies, procedures and training into country specific language.Duties – cont’dHSE Audits (15%)17. Maintain compliance with STERIS policy/programs, and HSE regulations including the requirements of the voluntary ISO 14001 / 45001, ensuring that non-compliances are promptly reported and corrective actions raised, tracked and completed.18. Support and assist German sites in the STERIS HSE compliance assurance (self-assessment program such as but not limited to the completion of self-assessments and closure of material significant findings).19. Work with allocated sites, site managers, regional teams and senior operators to communicate and drive compliance with HSE standards to ensure a safe working environment.20. Undertake a gap analysis audit for each facility, produce a local and regional strategy to support the closure of identified gaps21. Align with other country specific SME’s to ensure consistency of the delivery of HSE initiatives.Required Experience1. Experience with internal HSE management systems and compliance audits2. Experience in implementing HSE programs3. Ability to build relationships and lead teams indirectly4. Experience with multi-site operations.5. Experience of managing and maintaining Safety and Health Management Systems (ISO 45001) and EnvironmentalManagement Systems (ISO 14001).Skills1. Ability to work well in a team environment.2.
