(.pdf) or Word (.doc).Job Posting Title Senior International Scholar in ResidenceJob Description Summary Admin ExemptJob DescriptionReporting to the WCW Executive Director, the International Scholar in Residence (ISIR) is an expert from a country outside the U.S. who is actively engaged in scholar-activism related to one or more topics of international significance that relate to women or girls, gender equality, social justice, and/or human wellbeing. The ISIR may also be a scholar-at-risk in their home country, although this is not required. In their role, the ISIR is expected to continue their international work and to engage with the Wellesley College Community around their topics of expertise. This may include presentations, publications, program development, participation in WCW’s United Nations Commission on the Status of Women events or in other fora for public engagement (including the Wagner Centers for Wellesley in the World), meeting or working with students, collaborating on grants and other forms of resource mobilization, engaging with WCW’s Council of Advisors, representing WCW at international events or in international networks, and other tasks to be determined. The ISIR raises funds to support their activities through lead authored or co-authored proposals, contracts, directed gifts, or other resource mobilization efforts. If the ISIR has less than 10 years’ active experience in their international work, their title will be ISIR; if the ISIR has more than 10 years’ active experience in their international work, they will qualify for the title of Senior International Scholar-in-Residence (SISIR).Position Responsibility:Develop (or maintain) own research and action portfolio of externally-funded international projects aligned with WCW’s mission (gender equality, human wellbeing, social justice), key populations (women and people of diverse genders, families, communities—local, national, or global), or key issue areas (economic security, education, mental health, violence against women, youth, and other areas to be determined). Write and submit a diversity of successful gift and grant proposals. Attend external conferences, meetings, and speaking engagements in the United States and abroad as a speaker and participant. Publish own work in the form of books, articles, interviews, media appearances, op-eds and blogs, documentaries, etc.Support WCW’s ongoing contributions to “Wellesley in the World,” including but not limited to participation in the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UN CSW) meetings and related NGO Forum (in-person or online), WCW’s Social Change Dialogues (online), WCW’s Tea & Conversation events (in-person), and activities related to WCW’s support of the Wagner Centers for Wellesley in the World.Engage with Wellesley College students (interns, student research assistants, student project associates, and students in general) in ways that connect them to the ISIR’s own international work.Supervisory Responsibilities:The ISIR is not required to supervise anyone; however, from time-to-time, the ISIR may supervise a research or project associate (staff employee) or student (student intern, student project associate, or student research associate).Basic Qualifications:An established track record or exceptional promise with regard to research or action related to WCW’s mission, key populations, and key areas of work is required. A Bachelor’s degree or its international equivalent is strongly desired, but not required. An advanced degree is preferred, but also not required. Leadership of an organization or social movement leadership may be considered as relevant experience.
