Job Description:Salary £49,764 – £53,887 per annum | Permanent | Part Time, 25 hours per week | Preston |International Sponsorship – this role is not open to international sponsorshipAre you an experienced Planning Lawyer looking for a new challenge? Join our Planning, Highways, and Environment Legal team and make a significant impact in Lancashire. You’ll achieve this by:

  • Leading the provision of planning law advice to the Council, handling complex and high-risk service problems. Your caseload will include, but is not limited to, s106 agreements, enforcement matters, certificates of lawful development, and other planning and licence/consent matters.
  • Advising on Committee reports, planning appeals, and inquiries, attending internal and external meetings as required.
  • Collaborating with the Head of Legal, Principal Lawyers, and other Senior Lawyers to ensure the team has a supportive, innovative, and collaborative culture. You’ll also provide recommendations on service, budget, and workforce planning.

Please note: This is a part-time role working 25 hours per week. Working hours are flexible and can be discussed at the interview.What we’re looking for:

  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, or equivalent with a current practising certificate.
  • Extensive experience in planning law, acting as the technical lead on projects and providing specialist advice in large and complex organisations.
  • Excellent knowledge of the statutory legal basis and requirements of local authority decision-making and governance.
