About the role

The overall purpose of the position of Senior Lecturer in Osteopathy is to make significant contributions to the teaching effort in the Osteopathy discipline and to contribute to the College through academic relevant administrative and research activities. An academic at this level is also expected to play a key role in scholarship, research and/or professional activities.

The position of Senior Lecturer will design and teach units, including online and preparatory material as well as convene units of study. The position of Senior Lecturer will be required to teach into the undergraduate and postgraduate programs at the University, supervise higher degree students and have supervisory responsibilities for some sessional staffing. 

An example of duties you may perform includes:

  • Work with Osteopathy and relevant other staff to develop high quality materials to teach and convene units in the postgraduate and undergraduate Osteopathy discipline;
  • Participate in administrative duties and academic leadership such as course or unit Convenor, attend discipline and college meetings and/or membership of a number of committees.
  • Independently prepare and deliver curriculum content, including unit coordination, marking, assessment and consultation with students.
  • Independently and in collaboration with other relevant staff, conduct and disseminate research in areas of expertise in accordance with the MORA (Measure of Research Activity) expectations for the level of appointment.
  • Lead and mentor other staff in the discipline to conduct research.
  • This is a full-time continuing position (teaching and research) at Academic C, $124,457 – $143,506 plus 17% superannuation working 36.75 (1 FTE) hours per week.

    The successful incumbent will be someone with energy who is innovative, progressive and collaborative in the way they work. They will be an excellent communicator who interacts well with others across the College and the University. The Senior Lecturer in Osteopathy will contribute to the strength of the discipline of Osteopathy within the University by collaborating with Osteopathy staff across the First Year College and in the College of Sport, Health and Engineering in both teaching and research activities.
