Job Description

About Us

The King’s community is dedicated to the service of society. King’s Strategic Vision 2029 sets out our vision for the future, shaped around five priority areas: educate to inspire and improve; research to inform and innovate; serve to shape and transform; a civic university at the heart of London; and an international community that services the world. Our ambitious Education Strategy sets out the actions that we must take to transform how we teach, how and where our students learn and how we support them during their time with us.

Libraries & Collections comprises four departments: Education & Learning, Research & Impact, Service Design & Delivery, along with Business Operations. We are part of the Students & Education Directorate, which manages the student lifecycle from application to graduation and beyond.

This role is based in the Learning Design & Delivery (LDD) team, which is responsible for the design and teaching of learning activities and courses that enhance the information literacy skills and practice of the King’s community. Collaborating with colleagues, we develop inclusive pedagogical practice, and liaise with staff, students, and NHS colleagues to co-create embedded learning.

We are part of the Students & Education Directorate, a collection of wide-ranging professional services in place to support King’s students and their education. As a directorate we manage the student lifecycle from application to graduation and beyond, to ensure a coherent and seamless student experience and effective administrative processes, working closely with King’s faculties to do so.

About the Role

Senior Library Assistants support education and research at King’s by undertaking a range of activities that contribute to the delivery of an innovative and sustainable L&C service. This role includes a variety of service delivery elements, including specialised administrative and processing tasks, in-depth help, and delivering information literacy learning activities and services for the King’s community.

This is an exciting opportunity for candidates looking to develop their knowledge and experience with inclusive pedagogy, acquiring skills in co-delivering information literacy skills development across a large research institution. This will suit those wishing to utilise their skills and expertise in assisting learners in finding and using information to support student success and research quality.

All grade 4 staff are assigned a placement brief within a particular team, but may be moved across to a different placement brief elsewhere within Libraries & Collections in order to support service needs or your development.

All Libraries & Collections staff are encouraged to take responsibility for their own performance and development, through agreeing clear objectives, maintaining professional awareness, participating in professional networks and reflecting on own performance. We expect all colleagues to role-model a positive, proactive, flexible and committed approach that encourages others.

This is a full-time post, but we welcome applications from candidates seeking a flexible work pattern within our necessary service operating hours.

This post will be offered on an indefinite contract.

This post is subject to Disclosure and Barring Service clearance.
