Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?Senior Manager, Competitive and Business Insights’ role will be responsible for identifying and disseminate competitive insights and market assessment to key partners including RBC Insurance executive leaders, Product Leads and Sales and Distribution teams to ensure alignment to Insurance strategic objectives and strengthen RBC’s leadership position within the Insurance industry.What will you do?

  • Ongoing gathering of Competitive intel and monitoring of industry trends and market developments (through market data, industry reports, expert interviews, whitepapers, client surveys, internet) to identify competitive gaps in our Insurance product portfolio and help the Insurance Products team accelerate its position in the market to deliver on Insurance strategic objectives.
  • Provide an outside-in perspective and visibility on macro-economic impacts and completive threats/opportunities impacting the Insurance industry and liaises with Key external industry experts to understand the impact on RBC Insurance products, gather global and domestic competitive insights, benchmarking, and peer comparable to derive insightful analysis and present impactful deliverables.
  • Collaborate with external industry experts at various leadership events and internal product owners and partners including Digital and Data Office to deliver on relevant reporting and incorporating specific data driven strategies (AI) and regulatory to understand risks and implications associated with opportunities identified. Establish practice management and routines to provide insights to key stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Conducting Data Analysis to underpin opportunities and assumptions, review annual reports and quarterly results to provide comparable. Seek industry insights from multiple resources through sound research management practices and provide a competitive view across all large strategic initiatives to executives, product owners and partners help demonstrate the desired outcomes and benefits and influence decisions or inform pivots.
  • Proficiently organize and leading a high performing team through problem solving, ideation sessions and ac t as a thought partner to creatively identifying opportunities that meets the business needs.

What will you need to succeed?Must have

  • Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience in external research, industry benchmarking, insurance product sales, consulting or research and financial acumen
  • Storyboarding and structured problem solving experience with complex data and info from multiple sources into straight forward conclusions and recommendations
  • Strong spoken and written communication skills with the ability to impact and influence
  • Strong Power Point and Excel skills

Nice to have

  • MBA or other post-graduate degree or equivalent experience
  • Understanding of Life Insurance as well as Insurance business across all products (Travel, Life, Wealth, Creditor, Group).
  • People management
  • Industry connections
  • Completion of Life License Qualification Program (LLQP)
  • Experience with Tableau, data extracts
