In this role, you will:

  • Report to the Director while operating in a team-based environment, you will adjudicate credit proposals for Asia Pacific clients and also some for Canadian Power & Engineering/ Contractor clients.
  • Contribute to the quality of the loan portfolio by undertaking analysis of credit applications and providing recommendations, while adhering to the Banks’ underwriting guidelines:
  • Review pertinent financial and industry information and perform in depth risk assessment of incoming credit applications
  • Develop a high degree of industry & regional expertise and ensure the ongoing quality of the credit portfolio through the review of publications, the assessment of monthly/quarterly financial reporting packages, and discussions with the applicable corporate banking officers
  • Ensure appropriate analysis, use of models and assignment of Borrower and Guarantor risk ratings in compliance with Bank guidelines and policy.
  • Provide recommendations and participate in discussions in Senior Credit Committees.
  • Provide credit authorizations that clearly communicate the terms and conditions of the adjudication.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation is on file to support adjudiation decisions.
  • Prepare industry reports and other industry account information, as requested.
  • Contribute to reporting enhancement/ initiatives while also ensuring the accuracy of data in various databases and reports.
  • Monitor the timely submission of applications and reporting.
  • Conduct day-to-day activities in an effective and efficient manner, consistent with the Bank risk culture, Guidelines for Business Conduct, operational risk, regulatory compliance risk and AML/ATF.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with origination/execution personnel in APAC and Canada.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have experience with:

  • MBA and/or Finance-related professional designations (e.g. CPA, CFA, etc) are preferred.
  • Required at least 3 years of experience in credit analysis in Corporate and/or Commercial Banking or Credit roles, including but not limited to: understanding of credit structures and protections, credit documentation, and financial projections.
  • Experience in Asia Pacific region would be an asset and knowledge of Canadian Power, Engineering/ Contractor segments would also be helpful.
  • Curiosity, ability to learn and to apply newly acquired knowledge to daily tasks.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills to manage multiple (often shifting) priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sound oral and written communication skills to elaborate and support credit decisions before internal stakeholders (e.g. Global Risk Management and Banking counterparts).
  • Superior negotiation and problem-resolution skills to reach agreements with business line partners.
