Job Summary In the role of Senior Manager, Finance Data and Analytics, you will be responsible for leading the configuration and modeling of end-to-end data requirements that drive the Insurance transformation activities and develop optimal solutions aligned to the new IFRS 17 infrastructure. Working collaboratively with the Senior Director, Insurance Transformation, the Senior Manager, Insurance Finance Data and Analytics will be a key contributor in collaborating with leaders and contributors from across the Insurance organization to enhance the function of Insurance Finance capabilities as strategic co-pilots to the business, develop comprehensive financial models/analysis and drive continuous improvement.Job DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?In the role of Senior Manager, Finance Data and Analytics, you will be responsible for leading the configuration and modeling of end-to-end data requirements that drive the Insurance transformation activities and develop optimal solutions aligned to the new IFRS 17 infrastructure. Working collaboratively with the Senior Director, Insurance Transformation, the Senior Manager, Insurance Finance Data and Analytics will be a key contributor in collaborating with leaders and contributors from across the Insurance organization to enhance the function of Insurance Finance capabilities as strategic co-pilots to the business, develop comprehensive financial models/analysis and drive continuous improvement.What will you do?
- Lead the development of the SQL, Dataiku, Python or other programming code to support the financial modeling requirements for IFRS 17 accounting and disclosures
- Deliverables include the configuration, modeling and reporting output of financial data, including the ability to adapt to varying product requirements and business partner needs
- Translate business/stakeholder requirements into technical configuration and associated documentation, including internal control implications, efficient data management protocols and end-user training materials post launch
- Work closely with IT partners on the development and on-going testing of controls
- Provide training and support of end-to-end system infrastructure and understanding of data needs and data accessibility to facilitate end-user self-serve capabilities
- Operate with an innovative and creative manner that emphasizes continual process improvements in data mining and reporting processes; Drive operational efficiencies and optimize processes to enhance Insurance Finance’s effectiveness
- Analyze and develop process improvement and efficiency opportunities within the Insurance Finance monthly and quarterly reporting processes
What do you need to succeed?Must Have
- Undergraduate degree (Data science, Mathematics)
- 5+ years of experience with data modeling and manipulation tools and/or low-code platforms such as in Python and Dataiku
- Proficiency in gathering requirements and designing dataflows for data reconciliation, data quality checks, internal finance controls, and reporting
- Strong analytical, financial modeling and problem solving skills, with a keen attention to detail
- Ability to perform debugging for gap analysis and investigation by building ad-hoc dataflows, and using SQL queries
- Familiar with data lakes and relational databases, including SQL knowledge
- Basic understanding of data reporting and visualization tools such as Tableau
- Ability to drive process improvements and efficiencies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively to technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong interpersonal skills; specifically able to act as change agent, facilitator and collaborator
Nice to Have
- Chartered Professional Accountant designation and/or other designations (Agile, Six Sigma)
- Prior financial reporting and IFRS17 experience
- Understanding of internal controls and SOX requirements
- Experience in the Insurance industry
- Enterprise reporting experience (TM1, eGL etc.)
