Department Overview

The Treasury and Balance Sheet Management (TBSM) department of TD Bank is responsible for overseeing the management of TD’s consolidated non-trading market risk, funding strategies and liquidity risk, capital position, and funds transfer pricing framework.

Enterprise Capital Management (ECM), within TBSM, is responsible for managing the bank’s capital adequacy and efficiency; capital allocation methodology; oversight on subsidiary capital management; coordinating regulatory advocacy; developing and reporting on the banks’ internal capital adequacy assessment process; supporting the analysis of corporate development opportunities; and forecasting and analyzing TDBG’s consolidated regulatory capital requirements.

This role contributes directly to the Bank’s results by providing advice on the capital impacts of line of business and consolidated capital reporting.

Job Requirements

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of financial services industry. Previous experience with financial/regulatory reporting or capital experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience in Capital Reporting and/or Credit/Market risk Management, Treasury, and/or Analytics.
  • Experience in Alteryx, Python, and/or VBA is an asset.
  • Specialized knowledge of securitization, trading and lending products may be required.
  • An independent thinker with strong critical-thinking skills and the ability to solve complex issues.
  • Ability to mobilize the organization and work across functions with various stakeholders to deliver results.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting concepts, accounting standards, and risk management concepts and practices.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to synthesize thoughts in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to plan, manage and prioritize multiple responsibilities while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to work with large amounts of data and be forthcoming with solutions.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, organizational, and negotiation skills.

Job Details

Reporting to the VP, Enterprise Capital Management, the Senior Manager will primarily be responsible for managing a team responsible for Capital Reporting. The key responsibilities will include the following:

  • Lead a team of up to 8 resources to support enterprise Basel Capital Reporting
  • Act as business owner of the capital reporting production process, ensuring its effectiveness and timeliness.
  • Provide advice on the technical implementation of pending/new and existing regulatory capital rules
  • Support the ongoing review of capital interpretations to ensure appropriate application of the rules and continued compliance
  • Maintain a good understanding both of the financial markets in general and the various products and strategies employed by the Bank
  • Manage relationships with various stakeholders (including Segment Finance, Chief Accounting Group, Risk Management, and other areas within Treasury) to ensure consistent application and understanding of regulatory capital guidelines
  • Own the end-to-end planning for, and implementation /business validation of, process and rule changes.
  • Review/triage incidents in production, and proposed enhancements, and inquiries; support prioritization of changes.
  • Participate in Emergency Forums for Production incident resolution
  • Provide advice on workaround options, hotfix requirements
  • Work with technology production support to ensure issues are resolved
  • Publish and review change prioritization plans with key stakeholders
  • Coordinate testing of change components by upstream business segments
  • Own SOX processes and controls
  • Proactively assess capital optimization opportunities on an on-going basis, by engaging with internal teams and staying abreast with the market
  • Support governance and identification of risks related to regulatory capital reporting requirements
  • Support regular and ad-hoc capital reporting and requirements from regulators and senior management
