Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?The Enterprise Performance Management team provides the CFO, Group Executive, and the Board of Directors with insightful and timely advice and analysis to support and influence decision making. Through value-added advice, we enable early identification of opportunities and issues, and make actionable strategic recommendations that support long-term bank performance.The individual will work closely with leaders across all platforms to enhance Enterprise Performance Management capabilities and actionable measures for RBC’s major business lines. This will entail working with a large suite of senior leadership at the operating committee and group executive level in developing a strong understanding of the underlying strategy and business model, with the intent of formalizing performance indicators to enable top tier performance.The individual will deliver high quality work that is produced efficiently within tight timelines. The individual will support key RBC enterprise priorities while establishing, monitoring, and forecasting key performance indicators and business drivers to enable stronger performance in line with RBC’s medium term strategies. The individual will work closely with and support the Senior Director, Enterprise Performance Management, in addition to the broader team, in successfully delivering on a challenging initiative.What you will do?
- Co-lead the development and reporting of key financial and non-financial performance indicators (KPIs) for major business lines to enable outperformance versus pre-set benchmarks. Collaborate with finance and front office teams to develop suitable drivers commensurate with strategic priorities and underlying business models to build upon quantitative measures for internal and external performance management purposes.
- Manage build out of analytical and performance management dashboards for operating committees, group executive and CEO/CFO reporting purposes. Establish data solution to consume and present financial and non-financial data to a wide spectrum of senior audience.
- Provide business executives and senior management with analysis and recommendations on business performance, through identification of issues and ongoing monitoring, as well as provide analysis of strategic initiatives and key decision variables.
- Produce insightful analysis to articulate business strategy and forecasts to internal and external stakeholders via key performance indicators and management targets. Work alongside Investor Relations, Enterprise Strategy and respective business segments to develop internally and externally targeted presentations as applicable.
- Support quarter end reporting and annual forecast/plan cycles for preparation of reporting packages to the Board/Group Executive/CFO Operating Committee, inclusive of operating results, operating plan and five year outlook.
- Build upon strong stakeholder relationships to support performance management requirements and enhance cross-unit collaboration capabilities.
- Own ad hoc projects as required by the CFO, CFO Operating Committee, and Head of Investor Relation
What you need to succeed?Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree; with emphasis in finance/accounting or management preferred
- +5 years of experience in a financial institution or management consulting firm with focus on banking/capital markets
- Must be advanced with Power Point, Excel, Access, Outlook, Word, Bloomberg, Acrobat, etc.
- Keen sense of numbers and strong analytical skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks and handle time-sensitive executive level requests on a continuous basis
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and mobilize teams to deliver on common goals
- Innovative, proactive, and persistent in issue resolution
Nice to Have
- CPA, CFA or Finance MBA with specialization in capital markets and/or financial institutions
- Prior experience in equity research; investor relations (within financial institutions); Performance Management; and/or Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A)
- Existing knowledge/expertise in Financial Institution business and transactions (inclusive of bank structure, risk management concepts, financial markets, and instruments)
- Working knowledge of Python, R, or other data analytics toolsets.
