Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?An exciting opportunity within RBC Insurance Finance, where you will ensure the GL Attestation monthly process and other control activities are completed with a high degree of accuracy and meeting all requirements. Ownership of the relationship of the service provider and advancement of new technology solutions are also a key function of this role.What you will do?
- Establishing a centre of expertise for GL attestation in Insurance, including controls and governance.
- Oversee the monthly GL Attestation process for Insurance. Including review and approval of reconciliation, monthly attestation analysis as well as running the Attestation Council.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of required GL Attestation reporting, including aging templates and other controls and governance responsibilities.
- Maintain the monthly review process for 2nd level reviews.
- Review SOD reporting process and recommend/drive process improvements.
- Maintain the reconciliation control process maps (BRAG analysis) for any changes in the process, product, and system including understanding the processes identify reconciliation process issues and report them in the quarterly BRAG package.
- Own and manage the service agreement between Insurance Finance and FSS ensuring all deliverable are met including, timelines, quality and reporting.
- Drive collaboration between Finance, FSS and Insurance business SME’s with regards to attestation processes.
- Lead cross functional teams to address attestation issues.
- Lead cross functional teams to develop GL attestation requirements for new initiatives.
- Ensure a strong financial control environment exists across Insurance Finance and with the business as appropriate.
- Assessing financial risk and establish proper infrastructure & processes to ensure financial results are reported completely and accurately and risks are adequately managed.
- Support many financial control functions such as end user computing controls, operational risk management, ad hoc reporting, and process investigations.
- Drive process improvements as required, including ensuring source systems meet all finance requirements. Ensure continued focus on automation.
- Support various audit engagements to ensure successful audit completion
What do you need to succeed?Must-have
- CPA (CA) designation. This mandate is highly dependent on using analytical and financial reporting skills commonly associated with accounting designations.
- Knowledge of Insurance products/operations, familiar with insurance accounting, together with a willingness and interest in developing that knowledge.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong financial, analytical, judgmental and conceptual skills.
- Excellent presentation and report writing skills.
- Strong team building skills and work ethics.
Nice-to-have
- Strong knowledge of the RBC financial systems.
- IFRS17 experience
- Process automation or tableau experience
