Come help us transform everyday travel into extraordinary experiences.ABOUT THE ROLE:As the Senior Manager, Payroll, you will lead the global payroll function at Plusgrade. You have 5 to 10 years of experience managing payroll teams at global companies, . You have a track record of challenging the status quo, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing solutions that help automate or add efficiencies to the payroll function. You will be responsible for the accurate processing of the Company’s global payrolls, including Canada, US, UK, Israel and corresponding with third parties to process payroll in other jurisdictions. You will leverage your extensive payroll knowledge across various countries to oversee payroll operations, lead the implementation of best practices, and ensure appropriate controls are in place to mitigate risk. You also possess strong written and oral communication skills and the willingness to take initiative, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and foster an environment of collaboration and continuous improvement.Reporting to the VP, Controller, this role will be responsible for the following:

  • Drive the Global payroll transformation by working collaboratively with Human Resource and Finance Teams and recommending and implementing appropriate systems, practices, and procedures to streamline and automate the global payroll processes.
  • Acting as the subject matter expert, reviewing and resolving complex issues relating to the semi-monthly payrolls in Canada, US, UK, Germany, Dubai, Singapore and Israel, as well as the EOR payrolls..
  • Direct the day-to-day payroll operations to ensure the accurate and timely processing of global payrolls.
  • Manage, mentor and coach a team of 1-2 Payroll Analyst(s).
  • Actively plan/map out go-forward resource and system requirements for the global payroll function
  • Oversee compliance with complex and changing payroll regulations in all countries serviced and ensure all regulatory obligations are met.
  • Lead the implementation of a new global payroll system and the related integrations (Bamboo, Sunlife etc.)
  • Work with the Treasury team to ensure timely and sufficient funding of all payroll bank accounts, and assist in the cash forecasting of payroll-related items .
  • Ensure all Group RRSP, UK pensions and 401k contributions are reconciled and remitted, and stay on top of the changing regulations and impact on the employees’ contributions.
  • Review and approval of month-end payroll-related journal entries in Oracle NetSuite accounting system, ensuring that all balances in the GL are reasonable, complete and accurate.
  • Ensure the payroll function has collaborative and health working relationships within Finance and HR
  • Approve/review the reconciliations of the related balance sheet accounts and all payroll-related remittances (for all jurisdictions)
  • Lead the team through the reconciliation of all social taxes on a monthly basis and ensure all year-end requirements across the globe are completed timely.
  • Ensure compliance with Payroll process SOX controls and continue to strengthen the controls while ensuring efficiency.
  • If applicable, lead the transition of payroll operations for any newly acquired companies.

YOU ARE SOMEONE WITH:

  • Payroll Certification (CPP, PCP or CPM)
  • 5 to 10 years experience managing a payroll team in a global company with multi-jurisdictional payrolls
  • Experience in leading business process transformation and managing change
  • Experience leading process improvements and rolling out automation to enable process efficiency
  • Strong accounting knowledge
  • Experience with stock option administration & accounting is considered an asset
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills including the capacity to perform detailed analysis while understanding the broader context and implications
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Able to work independently and within cross-functional teams, managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • 2 – 5 years of accounting reconciliation and journal entry preparation
  • Knowledge and experience processing payroll based in Ontario and Quebec
  • Experience with Ceridian Dayforce would be an asset
  • Strong Excel skills and experience in Google Sheets
