Requisition ID: 213403Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture.The Special Accounts Management (“SAM”) portfolio is comprised of underperforming Canadian business banking accounts generally risk rated IG 65 and lower, that typically require a restructure, refinancing or in limited circumstances the enforcement of security.The Senior Manager, SAM is responsible for proactively managing Corporate, Commercial and Real Estate Problem loans and making recommendations, supported by analysis and due diligence, with a view to maximizing recoveries and mitigating losses to the Bank.The incumbent will interface with clients directly, and where appropriate in partnership with the Director, SAM or Vice President, SAM.Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Proactively manage a portfolio of assigned accounts
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day portfolio management including monitoring client reporting, underwriting, deal structuring/negotiation, due diligence, and preparation and presentation of credit submissions.
  • Ensure Annual Reviews, Watchlist and Problem Reviews, PLDC’s, etc. are completed within the required timelines.
  • Maintain relationships with financial and legal advisors, whose services may be engaged during the management of certain accounts.
  • Provide recommendations to senior executives and presenting / participating in discussions at Senior Credit Committee.
  • Develop a high degree of industry knowledge / expertise and ensuring the ongoing quality of the portfolio.
  • Review and comment on loan and other legal documentation.
  • Prepare provision recommendations.
  • Partner with the Director, SAM and Vice President, SAM in the development of people through training and mentoring.
  • Plan and present training sessions for partners.
  • Act as subject matter expert to partners on potential problem loans.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have experience with:

  • 5+ years of Commercial and/or Corporate Banking Account Management; Risk Management; or Workout/Restructuring Experience.
  • Completed Undergraduate degree in Business/Finance/Accounting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Corporate and/or Commercial Banking.
  • Superior skills in financial analysis, modeling, and risk assessment.
  • High attention to detail with a sense of urgency appropriate to the situation.
  • Superior skills with respect to problem solving, deal negotiation/structuring, due diligence and complex loan documentation.
  • Superior communication (oral and written), relationship management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong time management, and organization skills to manage multiple (and sometimes competing) priorities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Strong computer skills including the use of MS Office, Excel, Work, and Powerpoint.
  • Solid knowledge of insolvency matters or a willingness to develop this knowledge in a reasonable period.
  • Awareness of differences in the tax, legal and accounting rules of the various jurisdictions.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Ability to travel.
